Description
Street Child is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Disability and Capacity Strengthening Officer to join our team and play a critical role in enhancing the lives of children with disabilities. In this important position, you will be responsible for leading initiatives that promote capacity strengthening within communities, helping families and organizations better support children with disabilities. Your expertise will contribute to developing and implementing strategies that ensure equitable access to resources, education, and opportunities for disabled children. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the challenges faced by disabled children and their families, as well as the ability to advocate effectively within various stakeholder contexts. You will work closely with local partners, government entities, and community organizations to foster inclusive practices and drive systemic change. Additionally, you will be tasked with monitoring and evaluating the impact of our programs, ensuring that we meet our goals and continue to make a positive difference. Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of capacity strengthening strategies focused on disability inclusion.
- Collaborate with local organizations to assess the needs of families with disabled children and develop tailored support programs.
- Design and deliver training sessions for community stakeholders on best practices for supporting children with disabilities.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, gathering and analyzing data to inform future initiatives and improvements.
- Advocate for policy changes at local and national levels to promote disability rights and inclusive practices.
- Build and maintain relationships with key partners, including governmental bodies, NGOs, and community leaders, to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting the progress and impact of programs.
- Working closely with disability working group, Joint association of persons with disability networks in the BAY States, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Responsibility relevant clusters within the BAY States.
- Travel and support activity implementation across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States in coordination with project manager.
- Ensure documentation of key learning and continued support to organization for persons with disability and other NNGOs
