Background: ----------------

The External Relations (ER) department is comprised of four complementary functions: Private fundraising, Mobilization & Marketing, Policy & Advocacy and Operations & Analytics. To enable IRC to deliver our Strategy100 commitments, the ER department has established an innovative approach that will improve our ability to raise diverse and flexible funding, while raising our profile and influence.

The International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) unit is part of the ER department, and is accountable for 65% of IRC’s total private-sector revenue. This team is responsible for the organization’s engagement with corporations, foundations and international philanthropists globally, matching institutional funders’ interests with the IRC’s extensive programs. As part of IPP, the Global Corporate Partnerships team expertly leads financial and non-financial engagements with corporations, foundations and international philanthropists globally, accounting for approximately 35% of IPP’s annual target.

Job Overview: ------------------

The IRC has a critical and exciting opportunity for a Senior Leader to lead our work with corporations around the world. The Senior Director, Global Corporate Partnerships will lead the IRC’s expansive Global Corporate Partnerships team and advance our aspirational high-value (HV) goals and vision.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, global fundraising leader with a track-record of both leading global teams in the successful execution of global corporate partnerships, as well as personally securing strategic partnerships with multinationals around the world at the 6 and 7-level figure. S/he must be well-placed to inspire, design and implement a team vision to grow holistic, 360-degree corporate partnerships across various business sectors and geographies in support of IRC’s global programs.

The successful candidate will have excellent team leadership skills, as well as proven experience in building and growing dynamic, high-value corporate partnerships, and will demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

Major Responsibilities: ---------------------------

- Lead, mentor, and manage the Global Corporate Partnerships unit, composed of 5 senior leaders and their specialized teams. Lead through developing a global corporate partnership strategy that includes deepening of existing partnerships and expansion of new business through a sectoral approach, growing at great scale year-over-year; - Partner with the VP, IPP and GPPS to set strategic goals and key outcomes for the Corporate Partnership team’s efforts; - Provide dynamic and effective thought leadership for the Global Corporate Partnerships team’s efforts towards increased financial revenue and other resources that further the IRC’s mission, such as operational partnerships, in-kind, employee engagement, advocacy, and thought leadership with the private sector; - Act as a senior leader in IPP, teaming up with the other Senior Directors in maintaining, cultivating and developing a best-in-class global fundraising team; - Lead, expand, and support the IPP team’s efforts by personally cultivating and soliciting high-level, high-impact partnerships that call for an advanced level of seniority and technical competence; - Show dedication to supporting our diversity, equality and inclusion efforts through development of multi-faceted, positive partnerships that benefit a wide range of clients with varying backgrounds; - Inspire, empower and challenge the team through active mentorship, fostering an inclusive environment that supports new ideas and innovative ways of developing and managing partnerships; - Drive the development and success of a consistent global “One Team” approach to the strategic relationship planning and other organized groups, towards improving the impact of those partnerships in support of the IRC’s mission; - Collaborate with IRC senior leadership to develop an overarching vision for global corporate support at the IRC, articulating that vision to key constituencies in order to encourage and develop a cross-functional, multi-location culture of effective and innovative partnership engagement; - Collaborate with the Global Philanthropy and Partnership Services (GPPS) team on the conceptualization, development and implementation of standards, tools and procedures towards a best-in-class approach to international private sector engagement and fundraising; - Along with other High Value Fundraising leaders across IPP, GPPS and USA Philanthropy, the department that is responsible for engagement with HNWIs in the United States, provide assistance and informed professional insight for IRC technical and field teams on matters relating to fundraising and partnerships; - Identify Corporate sector partnership trends and competitive strengths and weaknesses to inform IPP’s and the wider External Relations Department’s approach to external engagement; - Establish collaborative working relationships both internally across the organization and externally with donors and key partners.

Key Working Relationships: ------------------------------

You will report to: Vice President, International Philanthropy and Partnerships, and Global Philanthropy and Partnership Services;

Your position supervises: A team of 20 staff members, including 5 direct reports.

Essential Qualifications: -----------------------------

- Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Communications, International Relations, Finance or equivalent preferred; - Extensive experience (12 years+) in the corporate sector fundraising and partnership space; particularly in managing corporate fundraisers in a similar scope/scale of portfolio, organizational size and team; - Direct experience with corporate partnerships and fundraising techniques, including acquiring financial support for projects and securing large donations; - Consistent record of negotiating and securing seven figure plus corporate partnerships; - Understanding of how to reconcile the needs of an organization with those of the private sector partner; - Demonstration of creativity and problem solving in working with corporate partners; - Ability to explain complex issues to donors and prospects and present the organization in an engaging and concise manner; - Good understanding of the challenges and issues faced by field offices; - Excellent digital literacy (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.); - Excellent communication skills with good interpersonal and persuasion skills; - Knowledge and interest in humanitarian /international development work.
