Overview

Support projects by finalizing the CCA and analyzing data for the UNINFO platform.

You have:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in sociology, statistics, demography, geography, economics, public administration, other social science or related field is required.
  • Certification or training in data analysis is required.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in collecting, researching and analyzing data across various areas of social and economic development or related area is required.
  • Proven skills working in Excel and Word are required.
  • Background and experience in development issues is required.
  • Background and familiarity with statistical and data analysis is required.
  • Knowledge of the United Nations Common System in Chile is required.
  • Knowledge of UN platforms as UN INFO is required.
  • Knowledge of UN Reform, RCO role in UN System is desirable.
  • Experience in drafting papers and reports is desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming in Python is desirable.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Result of Service

Provides support to currents projects, in particular the finalization of the Common Country Analysis (CCA), SDG roundtable and overall work relating to UNINFO and Cooperation Framework Work Plans. Processes work and follows-up, under some supervision, seeking advice and/or reporting to supervisor(s) as needed. Consistently applies appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures. Effectively and in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Data Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties: • Conduct research, extracts and compiles basic information and technical data on specific programmes/joint projects and issues related to Joint Work Plans and the Cooperation Framework. • Connects the Joint Work Plan with the six transition pathways and the priorities of the Government of Chile. • Support on effective tracking of the implementation of country-level Cooperation Framework through the UN-INFO platform and Joint Work Plans. • Support the development of the Common Country Analysis (CCA) by gathering statistics, consolidate evidence-based SDG analysis, analysing economic, social, and environmental variables, and drafting reports. • Works in close coordination and supports as necessary (including training or one on one support) the M&E officers of the UNCT AFP to make improve data accuracy and • Assists in monitoring developments/issues on subjects or areas assigned by collecting, selecting, analysing and compiling materials from multiple sources, e.g., relevant databases, the library and the Internet. • Supports the work of the RCO and ECLAC in mobilizing the UNCT around the SDG roundtable with the Minister of Social Welfare and Family. • Compile statistical material; adjusts reported data from different sources and load data into computerized database system. • Assists in the evaluation and examination of data sets for accuracy, clarity and validity. • Analyse data quality in UN-INFO, through improved governance, technical improvements and strengthened UN-INFO literacy. • Identifies data gaps in UN-INFO platform and relates with skateholders to solve these issues. • Prepares reports, presentations, tables, lists, graphs, charts and/or diagrams for information and review by senior officers. • Support on developing a Dashboard & visualisation of UNINFO. • Support on the completion of UNCT Annual Report. • Reviews, stores, classifies, and maintains relevant computerized databases. • Takes notes and drafts executive summaries of meetings. • Proposes and prepares innovative ways of presenting data, results, graphics, among others. • Performs other related work as required.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
