For every child,

Medium sized office with a full Communication component of the Country Program located in the capital city to have close proximity to government partners. The capacity of the external communication section needs to be reinforced to respond adequately to the continuous production of emergency communication materials from the field to raise the visibility of the humanitarian response.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the Chief of Communication/P-4, the Sr. Communication Associate supports the respective section(s) by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement and monitor their country programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. The incumbent is responsible for development and production of advocacy materials, management of the Library/Computerized Documentation System designed to organize, and audio-visual (audio and video, photos, etc.) and reports, articles, periodicals, etc., materials and information associated with them in three languages (French, English, Creole).

The incumbent works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, external partners and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery. S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones and advises on improvements to keep activities on track.

  • Assist in the production of information and communication materials, and monitor the qualitative aspects of production, quality control.
  • Assist in the development of programme communication messages and materials, specially involving photography and video, to support sectoral programmes. Participate in the design, development, dissemination and evaluation of audio-visual communication materials and activities. Desktop Publishing.
  • Store bibliographic and audio-visual information with an unlimited number of authors and subjects of interest for UNICEF. Stores profiles of user interests and uses these profiles to periodically generate lists of items in that particular user’s area of interest.
  • Take all administrative steps to organize special events, high level events, and facilitate activities with UNICEF Haiti goodwill ambassadors.
  • Periodically print out standard reports such as list of new acquisitions for a particular period, full catalog of books, reports, etc.
  • Ensure clippings of press articles of interest to UNICEF’s various sections. Placing and follow-up of orders of documents and materials; identification of materials (cassettes or books) to be sent to media. Ordering of subsequent materials.
  • Assist the Communication section in other assignments as and when required.
  • Liaise with supply section for production of communication items (Tshirts, caps, banners., etc.) ensuring quality, size, branding requests, etc. and ensure all items distributed are branded
  • Help supervisor and team on administrative issues related to official travels (leaves and missions)
  • Facilitate the development of contracts by providing information and drafting.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate recording and administrative processing of government & NGO’s proposals and requests for direct cash transfers (DCTs).
  • Helping conduct regular spot checks of partner’s projects to assess their financial record-keeping, expenditure controls and reporting systems.
  • Monitor and track the efficient distribution of supplies that are required for effective programme delivery.
  • Support the programme section in researching, compiling and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information from a variety of sources on subject matters relevant to the work of the section to facilitate programme delivery as well as preparation of reports, working papers and presentations.
  • Help monitor media (Radio, TV and newspapers) and social media (twitter, Facebook, Insta and WhatsApp) to better protect UNICEF’s positioning and branding.
  • Carry out transactions in VISION ensuring programme results, activities and programme coding are as per annual work plans (AWPs) and making amendments and alterations as per section revisions when necessary.
  • Carry out transactions in VISION pertaining to grants and programme-related items for his/her section including but not limited to registering grant allotments and tracking expiring programme grants.
  • Prepare monitoring and reporting information for supervisor and team on agreed performance indicators to drive more efficient management and accountability for results.
  • Regularly monitoring budgets and financial expenditures of section by employing applicable tools, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations, keeping supervisor informed and advised on actions for decision and/or follow up.
  • Helping prepare periodic or ad-hoc financial reports relating to country office and donors to support the office in optimizing use of programme funds.
  • Support capacity development activities related to programme development by preparing training materials and participating in exercises.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education is required. University level courses in administration or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.
  • Seven years of relevant work experience in administration or any other relevant function is required.
  • Prior experience in programme support functions is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in French, Creole and English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
