Purpose for the job

Under the close supervision of the NOC Communication Specialist and in coordination with the NOA Communication Officer, the Senior Communication Associate (Digital) will propose and lead the execution of the digital media strategy aligned with the office communication and advocacy strategy, with the aim of promoting the respect for the rights of children, youth and women, mobilizing public support of UNICEF’s mission in Peru through digital channels, and enhancing the organizations’ credibility and brand among digital audiences.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks

1. Support the design, development, and implementation of dynamic, inter-active and meaningful digital content strategies to sustain daily community management, youth related content on UNICEF Peru social media and website, content related to ongoing campaigns and UNICEF Perú areas of focus.

2. Support planning, developing, and implementing the social media presence, in line with UN and UNICEF policies and procedures, considering both organic and paid content.

3. Plan and manage social media and website engagement initiatives, including but not limited to, the use of “live” coverage and activations on social media platforms, user-generated content calls to action, and others.

4. In coordination with the Communication Officer, lead the digital media editorial planning and processes by collaborating closely with relevant colleagues and consultants and coordinating with PFP digital focal point the digital integrated strategy on digital content, activities, KPIs, and brand use.

5. In coordination with the Communication Officer, lead the Content Committee for weekly planning of the contents for dissemination and produce the weekly summary report.

6. In coordination with the Communication Officer, lead on the writing of digital media packs, crafting engaging content from key messages aimed at different audiences.

7. Liaise and work with graphic designers, consultants and agencies as needed, to produce visuals, infographics and videos for social media and UNICEF’s Peru website.

8. In coordination with the Communication Officer and programme areas, update, maintain and monitor the website for reliability, consistency, quality, and up-to-date information to increase traffic and effectiveness.

9. Support monitoring of and reporting on digital and social media presence and results and provide recommendations on tactics to improve UNICEF’s Peru digital communication.

10. Monitor and prepare reports on social media and website key performance indicators for UNICEF Peru’s Annual Report, Annual Management Plan, donor reports.

11. Identify new opportunities to continually improve our presence across digital platforms to deepen engagement with supporters, particularly young people, making use of digital insights through available analytical tools.

12. In coordination with the advocacy section, plan the advocacy actions to be carried out through the digital platforms of the ambassadors and friends of UNICEF Peru.

13. Focal point for UNICEF Peru in meets or different spaces in UNICEF or UN System about digital communication.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

1. Education

Completion of secondary education. Technical and/or university courses in marketing, journalism, communication, or any other discipline relevant to the job is an asset.

2. Work Experience

Seven years of relevant professional work experience in digital content management is required. Maintaining and coordinating digital and social media channels for organizations of human rights or social development will be an asset.

3. Technical knowledge

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of working in various media formats – print, audio, video, web, etc.
  • Knowledge about trends in digital world
  • Experience in planning, implementing and assessing social media strategies.
  • Knowledge in graphic design for digital media purposes and creation of infographics and presentations (Photoshop, Canva, PSD, AI or similar).
  • Basic or intermediate knowledge of Adobe Premiere or other editing programme.
  • Experience in reporting on qualitative and quantitative analytics using different management tools of social networks.
  • Experience in the use of content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress and Drupal. Knowledge of Drupal will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of social media listening, and monitoring tools is an asset.

4. Language

Fluency in Spanish and English is required
