WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Provide aviation security (AVSEC) related operational coordination and technical support for air operations, ensuring compliance with WFP standards, risk management processes, to support safe and effective air operations for humanitarian community.

  • Prepare Aviation Security (AVSEC) airfield assessment schedules and perform airfield assessments and submit findings and reports.
  • Liaise with field staff and airfield focal points for coordinated AVSEC management of base and destination airfields for safe air operations and aviation activities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external counterparts to provide effective Aviation Security support to air operations and aviation activities.
  • Help establish, implement, maintain and retain compliance to procedures necessary for safe and secure air operations.
  • Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet the required provision of service to the humanitarian community, as needed.
  • Manage the administration for all National Airport Identity Cards (A.I.C), ground passes, WFP and UN passes/identification credentials on behalf of UNHAS staff and air operator crew with Somali Civil Aviation Authority CAA, Airport authorities and local authorities as per aviation regulations, rules and ICAO standards.
  • Deliver security briefings to staff and crew and staff joining the mission for the first time or those who may have been away for 3 months and file the related documents.
  • Organize and conduct aviation security related training to staff, focal points and partners and maintain training records.
  • Identify, document, and implement preventive and corrective action plans points/issues to ensure operational compliance with national legislation and WFP/UN policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other required duties.

DO YOU MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS?

Education:

  • Completion of secondary school Education with 7 years of relevant experience. OR First University degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience in (Aviation Security, aviation, security, emergency response, risk management and/or asset protection).

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of relevant Experience in Aviation related fields, working in the aviation section of an international organization, Ground Operations, Ramp safety, RFFS and emergency response, security field.
  • Experience in handling flight process, have knowledge of the context of Aviation/security operations in the field.

    Language proficiency:

  • Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Somali.

ARE YOU COMPETENT FOR THIS JOB? KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

  • Has supported elements of projects and operational activities that maintain security operations functions.
  • Has provided expert technical guidance and training to staff members within area of expertise and provided business process support.
  • Has supported the collation of data, analysis and drafting reports that inform security operations activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding of strategic approaches to aviation/security to identify potential threats. Contributes to the creation and implementation of WFPs mitigation measures.
  • Demonstrates ability to track and compile reports on Security staffing and financial resource usage on a project-level basis.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of security equipment and technologies used for screening of passengers, baggage, cargo, mail and general access control.
  • Demonstrates knowledge on asset protection, security and safety of persons and sensitive facilities in high -risk, high-threat environments.
