The incumbent will also be responsible for the Cabinet's work related to statutory meetings of UNESCO's Governing bodies. This includes follow-up on strategic matters, liaising with Member States, setting priorities, providing strategic direction and final clearance of all documents to be examined by the Governing Bodies. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing strategic leadership to reshape, redirect and inform UNESCO's strategies, policies and programmes, Global Priority Africa, Gender Equality and Intersectoral Programmes. This will include the design of strategic frameworks for UNESCO's Medium-term strategy (2022-2029) and monitoring across Major Programmes (2022-2025). S/he will advise the Director-General on global and regional policy developments. He/she will influence and provide guidance on flagship initiatives within the framework of UN Agenda 2030. The incumbent will advise on the design of the Organisation's internal structures to create conditions for the full implementation of the Medium-term strategy's global priorities, priority groups and cross cutting theme of crisis preparedness and response. This includes leading strategic dialogues and interaction with Member States, United Nations system and other stakeholders. The incumbent will provide support to the Deputy Director-General's special projects and in defining strategic orientations, policy and reform. This includes follow-up to the implementation of the Strategic Transformation workstreams including the reform of the field network and its alignment with the United Nations Development System. Finally, the incumbent will act as Secretary to the Senior Management Group (CDS), chaired by the Director-General. CDS is the highest authority in the Secretariat. It provides an authoritative framework for reflection and exchange on the major strategic orientations of the Organisation. In particular, the CDS is responsible for advising the Director-General on programmes, the structure of the Organisation, governance and key decision on the use of resources. In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for the following: - Providing strategic and political advice and assist the Director-General in her engagement with UNESCO's Governing Bodies, President of the General Conference, Chair of the Executive Board, Bureau of the Executive Board and Electoral Groups. Overseeing the Cabinet's work related to Governing Bodies, including review, approval and final clearance of all statutory documents submitted to the Governing Bodies, liaising with Governing Bodies Services, Bureau of Strategic Planning, and Sectors and engaging with the Presidents of the Governing Bodies Committees and Commissions and other stakeholders to ensure their full understanding and adherence to UNESCO's positioning with respect to various matters and to advise the Director-General on potential issues of concern. - Providing strategic and political advice to the Director-General to develop direction of work, advocate and secure support to UNESCO's intersectoral programmes and Global Priority Africa in the Medium-term Strategy and other core policy documents to create new opportunities for transversal action and enhanced integration in UNESCO's Major Programmes, and to create conditions for implementation of the Director-General's vision. Providing strategic framework and advice for the elaboration and implementation of intersectoral programmes and the operational strategy of Global Priority Africa, liaising with the Africa Department, Africa Group, the Africa Field Network and other stakeholders, and analysing feedback and make recommendations on possible measures. - Providing strategic and political advice on UNESCO's global priority Gender Equality in the Medium-term Strategy, Programme and Budget and other core policy documents that create new opportunities for transversal action and enhanced integration of Global Priority Gender Equality in UNESCO's Major Programmes, in collaboration with the Division of Gender Equality, Programme Sectors, the Bureau of Strategic Planning and Field Offices.
