Overview

Support the Security and Safety Unit with gate access procedures and in the Pass & ID Cell.

You have:

• HS Diploma or equivalent is required.
• A minimum of two (02) years of experience in general office support, administrative services or related area is required.
• Experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders/clients is desirable.
• Experience using Microsoft Office package is desirable.
• Knowledge in oral and written English is required.
• Fluency in Italian is required.

Result of Service The Individual Contractor will provide support to the Security and Safety Unit with gate access procedures and in the Pass & ID Cell.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Secretariat Entities, Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This position is located in the Security and Safety Unit. Under the supervision of the Chief Security Officer, the Individual Contractor will be responsible for the fulfilment of the deliverables as specified below and will liaise with respective external and internal stakeholders as necessary for consultations and collection of inputs/information.

The incumbent will report to the Chief Security Officer.

The IC will be performing the following duties: - Provide assistance in the Pass & ID Cell. - Screen all personnel, packages and vehicles entering the UN complex to ensure authorized access. - In the event of emergencies and incidents, alert relevant units and dispatch security personnel to the site under the direction of the supervisor. - Maintain logs and rosters and initiate chronological logs of events during emergency situations. - Provide information and directions to all personnel associated with the organization. - Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic. - Alert for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activity and report these immediately. - Ensure that all UN property being carried from the complex is checked for appropriate documentation. - Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Education: HS Diploma or equivalent is required.

Work experience: A minimum of two (02) years of experience in general office support, administrative services or related area is required. Experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders/clients is desirable. Experience using Microsoft Office package is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, knowledge in oral and written English is required. Fluency in Italian is required.
