Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Bamako. The Security Information Analyst will maintain security information awareness of all aspects which could potentially affect the safety and security of the UN staff and assets. She/he will assist the Chief Security Information Coordination Unit (SICU) in the identification and coordination of security information requirements, development of trend analysis, the gathering of comprehensive information on all factors of insecurity and she/he will participate in the development of country-wide security risk analysis, preparation of comprehensive briefings on safety and security to the UN Designated Official and Security Management Team.

Responsibilities 1. Maintains security information awareness of all aspects which could potentially affect the safety and security of the UN staff and assets, including up-to-date knowledge of events relating to the security environment through monitoring of security incidents, daily situation reports, local media and other open sources, and the cultivation of an information gathering and sharing network in accordance with policy and guidelines. a. Collection, review, and assessment of reports produced by UN components in country and from UN components responsible for areas of research related to the SIA's security environment. b. Collection, review and assessment of reports, articles, and products published in the open media related to the SIA's security environment. c. Assessment of reports and information provided by Host country Authorities. d. Under the supervision of the Chief SICU, conducts research on specific threat, factors, supports activities of the Crisis Management Team responding to specific security incidents.

2. Assists in the identification and coordination of security information requirements, development of trend analysis, the gathering of comprehensive information on all factors of insecurity as well as the determination of the relevance and validity of security information and the reliability of information resources. a. Analysis of security information, identification of trends of threats, and security incidents affecting United Nations system personnel, assets and operations in the country. b. Identification of security information requirements; collection, collation, and dissemination of security threat information to the Chief SICU and Principal Security Advisor. c. Timely dissemination of security threat information to representatives of all Organizations of the United Nations system operating in the country; Field Security Coordination officers and Security Officers of the Organizations of the United Nations system.

3. Participate in the development of country-wide security risk analysis, preparation of comprehensive briefings on safety and security to the UN Designated Official and Security Management Team. a. Development of specific security risk assessments for individual UN programmes and activities in the country, preparation of rapid threat and risk assessments. b. Development of corresponding security advisories and recommendations on security operating procedures. c. Development of briefing materials and presentations for Chief of SICU and Principal Security Advisor, Designated Official and Security Management Team on security matters. d. Develops reports on analysis of security incidents affecting United Nations system personnel, assets, and operations.

Perform other duties as required.

Education High school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate is required.

Work Experience A minimum of ten years with high school diploma or equivalent technical or vocational certificate (five years with a first-level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in international relations, programme management, crime or terrorism prevention, security, risk or disaster or emergency management and preparedness in the public or private sector areas is required.

At least five years of progressively responsible experience in, security or political predictive analysis is required.

Experience in conduct of statistical analysis to identify political trends and security incident patterns; assessment of conflict dynamics is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English and French (both oral and written) is required;

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
