  • Superior physical fitness including the ability to work nights and long hours.
  • Proficiency in using CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment.
  • Ability to monitor and analyse security feeds.
  • Knowledge of access control systems (e.g., key cards, biometric systems).
  • Training in emergency procedures and crisis management.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English is required.
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) are an advantage.

Job Description

To ensure the safety and security of the organization's premises, personnel, and assets by maintaining a vigilant presence, enforcing security protocols, and responding promptly to incidents as part of a dedicated team committed to maintaining a secure environment.

General Duties Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from Country Director. To report any violations of the IRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members. To assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by IRC and other humanitarian workers. Work towards the achievement of IRC goals in Afghanistan through effective managerial and lateral relations and teamwork. Ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities, lateral relationships and accountabilities.

Specific Duties:

Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by your supervisor.

Patrol continuously the perimeters of the compounds and maintain a security watch throughout the assigned shift. Conduct regular rounds, in keeping with security directives. Note and report problems, including suspicious activities, behaviours, and maintenance concerns. Respond to emergencies and other problems, in keeping with IRC guidelines, policies and procedures. Control the entrances to compounds ensuring only authorized IRC staff and their guests gain access. Maintain security logs, in keeping with IRC policies and procedures. Document all comings and goings of staff and guests.

Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor. Document all equipment or assets entering or leaving the compound. Document any and all repairs or maintenance including all persons involved.

Qualifications

Education: High School Years of Experience: 2-3 years’ experience of security guard are relevant org or INGOs. Skills: Superior physical fitness including an ability to work nights and long hours. Technical Competency: Proficiency in using CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment. Ability to monitor and analyse security feeds. Knowledge of access control systems (e.g., key cards, biometric systems). Training in emergency procedures and crisis management.

Communication and reporting skills Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
