Ensure safety and security of SCI staff and property.

You have:

  • Being graduated from high school and being able to read and write local language.
  • At least two years’ experience of working as security guard with INGOs.
  • Physically fitted, energetic, active and healthy.
  • Know how to use communication equipment like radios, UHF.
  • Can communicate in Basic English.
  • Able to do physical tasks needed for the job.
  • No History of the alcohol or drug problems.
  • Flexible and able to work under pressure.
  • Willing to work in tough conditions and follow Save the children’s values and policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of safety and security issues.

TITLE: Security Guard TEAM/PROGRAMME: Safety and Security LOCATION: Afghanistan Kabul - CO CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 1: The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.

ROLE PURPOSE: Due to the unstable security in Afghanistan, SCI Offices and compounds need protection at all the times. The security Guard’s job is to prevent instructions, alert others if something happens, and make sure SCI staff and property are safe.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive on time
  • Review shift book with previous shift
  • Inspect materials and equipment
  • Verify deliveries
  • Control access by visitors
  • Ask for name, organization and purpose of visit
  • Check identification
  • Verify appointment
  • Clear/do not clear visitor
  • Inspect handbags.
  • Register information in Visitors Logbook
  • Issue visitor identification card
  • Escort visitor to Reception
  • Inspect any vehicles parked in compound
  • Ensure only authorized vehicles are parked in and near SC facility
  • Inspect lights, locks, doors, windows
  • Check generator (fuel, oil, battery, logbook, maintenance schedule)
  • Inspect premises inside and outside on regular rounds
  • Report any suspicious activity to supervisor
  • Monitor VHF and HF radios, and satellite phone
  • Control access to after-hours visitors and staff members
  • Always remain awake]
