Security guard

The Role:

Ensure effective provision of security and safety services to personnel and World Vision Property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol and inspect property to protect against fire, theft, vandalism, terrorism, and illegal activity.
  • Negotiate a safe passage through checkpoint problem areas.
  • Do security patrols in assigned areas, checks doors, windows, lights, and equipment. Records any damage for repairs and for criminal incidents.
  • Patrol premises and contact the senior Security Officer or Operations when necessary to apprehend and remove unauthorized persons.
  • Protect organization’s investment, enforce laws, policies and procedures on the property, and deter criminal activity and unauthorized entry.
  • Examine credentials of persons desiring entrance to facilities and restricted areas and keep a visitor log of all non-World Vision persons entering the premises.
  • Use radio and mobile phone communications to call for assistance from the senior Security Officer or the Finance & Support Services Manager as the situation dictates. Maintaining order in emergencies.
  • Do regular radio checks with senior Security Officer throughout their shifts
  • Write report outlining incidents and their observations and activities during their assigned shift.
  • Report lights left on in buildings, turn lights on and off as directed, and reports doors and locks that are not working properly.

Essential:

  • Primary school level of Education
  • Police or military training
  • 1 year of experience in a similar role.

Working Environment:

The position is field-based in Hargeisa, Somaliland with frequent travel to other target project locations.
