You have:

- At least 7 years of experience in blue carbon and seagrass ecosystem research, particularly in the Southeast Asia region.
- Expertise in blue carbon assessment and seagrass ecosystems.
- Proven track record of research, publications, and practical application in blue carbon assessment and ecosystem services.
- Experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation for blue carbon evaluation.

Result of Service
- A comprehensive regional assessment report consolidating data from all six countries. - Recommendations for enhancing seagrass ecosystem services and addressing climate change vulnerabilities with the dentification of knowledge gaps and actionable research or project priorities for future initiatives. - Drafting a peer-reviewed scientific article summarizing the findings, with a focus on innovative insights and recommendations. - Development of seagrass-related technical documents and reports to assist the Dugong MOU in advocacy, policy-making, and conservation planning.

Duties and Responsibilities
The CMS Dugong MOU Secretariat is executing the project titled "Conservation of Biodiversity, Seagrass Ecosystem, and their Services - Safeguarding Food Security and Resilience in Vulnerable Coastal Communities in a Changing Climate" (referred to as 'the Project'). The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and is focused on six countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and India. The engagement of a consultant is required to produce a regional assessment of scientific data on the Seagrass from the Seagrass Ecosystem Service Project countries. The consultant will provide a comprehensive regional, with relevant input on climate change vulnerabilities and impacts (current climate, historical trends, climate extremes, future projections. Specific tasks and responsibilities: - Consolidate existing reports and assess all available scientific information on blue carbon, seagrass ecosystem services, and mapping from the six project countries and the region. - Analyze and synthesize regional trends, including climate change vulnerabilities (current climate, historical trends, extremes, and projections), and assess impacts on coastal ecosystems in the region - Identify knowledge gaps and propose research or action priorities for future projects. - Draft a scientific publication based on the findings of the report. - Support the Dugong MOU by preparing seagrass-related documents and reports.
Qualifications/special skills
