Duties and Responsibilities Bolivia is one of the founding countries of the UN since it was created in 1945. The United Nations has been in the country since 1950 and since then has supported the country in the development of public policies and laws that ensure the human rights of the population. . It protected and provided shelter to numerous persecuted persons, facilitating the transition to democracy, provided technical support for the development of the adolescent boy-girl code, collaborated decisively with the universalization of vaccination, among other things.

The United Nations in Bolivia coordinates and promotes actions so that the country achieves global commitments such as complying with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda. In this sense, it is necessary to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs in the private sector and to For this reason, it is important to have evidence on the progress that has been made in the country. In addition, they want to be able to build an Observatory of the SDGs with the private sector based on the results of this consultancy in order to monitor future progress. The SDGs are a guide and a map that will allow companies to identify whether their social, economic and environmental impact adds value to society, and consequently strengthen their work as an active part of society and their relationships with the different interest groups. The decision-making of the organizations is based on information and analysis, in the case of the contribution of the Bolivian private business sector, the data in relation to its contribution to the 2030 Agenda are often insufficient and/or outdated. In this framework and considering that companies are a key actor in achieving the SDGs, it is necessary to be clear about the progress of companies in this area. And moving forward, reliable and timely access to available information and knowledge.

This consultancy is proposed as a response to one of the strategic areas to be developed identified after the presentation of the Voluntary National Report of Bolivia in the last High-Level Political Forum (2021) and the importance of having updated information to monitor the evolution of the SDGs in the private sector in Bolivia.

Therefore, the products of this consultancy are an essential step to be able to carry out the creation of an Observatory of the SDGs with the private sector in Bolivia by the year 2023 to contribute to measure the progress of the implementation of the UNSDCF (2023-2027) and the 2030 Agenda.

Have a diagnosis and situation analysis of the progress towards the SDGs by all Bolivian companies that are significant and relevant, to be defined according to a consultancy methodology proposal, to measure the progress of the SDGs. The indicators will be those related to the SDGs and to the last presentation of the Plurinational State in its 2021 Voluntary National Report. This work will further align the private sector to ensure its commitment to the 2030 Agenda. In addition, it will seek to: - Generate new opportunities for collaboration to reduce deficiencies in terms of participation and capacities, based on an evaluation of the results. - Develop a monitoring and evaluation system to track the progress and achievements of the private sector and its contributions towards the SDGs.

Within the limits of the authority delegated to the Office of the Resident Coordinator, the person selected will be responsible for leading the preparation of a diagnosis of the situation that includes a baseline, following a methodological and analytical approach (qualitative and quantitative). It is planned to carry out a diagnosis, in the following areas of the business sector: financial system, industries, services, mining and oil and energy, in medium and large companies, among others, adhered and non-adhered to the Global Compact in Bolivia. This will inform the proposal for the creation of a SDGs Observatory with the Private Sector in Bolivia.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: The contracted professional must have a bachelor's degree in sciences: civil engineering, statistics, economics, finance, social communication or related fields. Management and mastery of programs and tools relevant to the position such as: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, statistical, design and video packages. Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in working with the private sector, economic and financial analysis, and strategic planning. - A minimum of 3 years of experience with data management systems, content, web monitoring tools, as well as software and applications relevant to the position. - At least 2 years of experience working to conduct interviews with key actors from the different sectors involved in the SDGs. - 2 years of work experience applying the gender and human rights perspective in the preparation of baselines and/or diagnoses. - At least 2 quality publications on the subject that demonstrate the ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concepts in writing and orally. - At least 2 products that demonstrate the ability to write and edit external digital communication materials, as well as transform dense technical and programmatic information into attractive and accessible content for the general public. - Work experience in audiovisual production and digital media to be able to dump the content generated in the consultancy in audiovisual and communication media. - Detail oriented, creative, able to work efficiently with the UN Bolivia team and the Global Compact. - Knowledge of the United Nations, the private sector and international cooperation in Bolivia is highly desirable. Language: Spanish (fluent) and English (working knowledge)
