Duties and Responsibilities
Background The SDG Stories Team was established by the Executive Secretary of ESCWA to help mainstream the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students aged 7 to 16 across the Arab region. This is achieved primarily through the development and dissemination of a comic book that presents engaging stories centered on the SDGs. The Team works closely with educational institutions, engaging directly with students and teachers through school visits, online sessions, and special events. It also provides support to schools in implementing development initiatives within their institutions or local communities. To support the continued implementation and expansion of the project in Lebanon and other target countries, the SDG Stories Team is seeking a Project Assistant to provide logistical, creative, and technical support. Duties and responsibilities: The Project Assistant will undertake the following tasks: • Support the dissemination of the ESCWA Stories comic book to educational institutions in the designated target countries. • Participate in in-person school visits and/or virtual sessions to introduce the SDGs and the ESCWA Stories Project. • Assist in the planning and delivery of educational activities targeting students aged 8 to 14 during the 2025–2026 academic year. • Review individual school activity plans to ensure the effective use of the comic book as a pedagogical tool for promoting the SDGs. • Document school activities through high-quality photos and videos; organize and maintain an archive of multimedia materials. • Contribute to content creation by producing visual and written materials (e.g. short videos, social media content, visual summaries) that highlight project activities and student engagement. • Provide design and multimedia support to the team, including support with presentations, publications, and promotional material. • Assist in the rollout of online surveys to schools and in the collection, entry, and analysis of data to generate basic statistics and insights on the project’s progress and impact. • Monitor the implementation of school activities and provide regular status updates to the Team. • Support the planning and coordination of events organized by ESCWA Stories—both within schools and at ESCWA premises—to showcase students’ creative outputs (e.g. artwork, interactive readings, character development, theatrical performances, and community initiatives). • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the team as needed.
