Overview

Support SDG localization in Gran Chaco region through research and reporting.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainable development, local development, or related field is required.
  • Nationality or legal residency in Paraguay, Bolivia or Argentina is required.
  • At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in local development research, sustainable development and localization analysis, data visualization, local governance concepts, climate change, and training of municipalities on sustainable development is required.
  • Knowledge of the development challenges facing the Gran Chaco region and relevant actors in the region is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Voluntary Local Reviews processes and Sustainable Development Goals is desirable.
  • Previous experience with the United Nations and/or its agencies, funds and programmes is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written command of Spanish, with additional command of English is desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment and professionalism, strong analytical and communication skills and ability for teamwork are required.

Result of Service Development of an inception report, according to the structure set by the Offices of the Resident Coordinators in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay and UNDESA. The report will serve as an introductory publication on¿“SDG Localization in the Gran Chaco – Localización de los ODS en el Gran Chaco," and will provide an introductory state of play on SDG localization, including an overview of existing data and gaps.¿¿

Duties and Responsibilities Regional Consultant

The consultant will provide research support, methodological and preparatory support for SDG localization activities across the three countries for the Gran Chaco with the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide methodological support to develop a structure for a common VLR in the Gran Chaco.¿
  • Provide substantive and logistical support, as needed, for forthcoming tripartite meetings and specifically develop summary report of the March 2023 tri-national workshop.¿
  • Research and draft, under the supervision of and according to the structure set by UNDESA and the Offices of the Resident Coordinators in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay, an inception report to act as an introductory publication on¿“SDG Localization in the Gran Chaco – Localización de los ODS en el Gran Chaco." The report will provide an introductory state of play on SDG localization, including an overview of existing data and gaps.¿

    Qualifications/special skills Bachelor’s degree in sustainable development, local development, or related field in required. The consultant must be of Paraguayan, Bolivian or Argentinean nationality or hold a legal residency in Paraguay, Bolivia or Argentina. At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in local development research, sustainable development and localization analysis, data visualization, concepts related to local governance and planning, climate change, and training of municipalities on sustainable development, is required. Knowledge of the development challenges facing the Gran Chaco region and of the most relevant actors in the region is desirable.
