Result of Service The individual contractor will deliver the following outcomes: - Deliver SDG trainings to targeted audience - Enhance the knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals among Stibula volunteers, the youth and the private sector

Expected duration The contract duration is two months.

Duties and Responsibilities The Resident Coordinator system is focused on the advancement of sustainable development, leaving no one behind, and with the eradication of poverty in all its forms and dimensions as an overarching objective, consistent with the integrated nature of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The RC system provides leadership for effective advocacy and communications for the SDGs, including in times of crisis, aligned to the values of the UN Charter, in coordination with all partners at global and country level, using the most effective communication channels in different settings and for different audiences.

In this regard, the Resident Coordinator’s Office is seeking to hire a Consultant with experience in SDG training to a range of target audiences, to advance the SDG advocacy efforts in- country. The Consultant will: - Develop training content and deliver trainings - Manage responsibility for training logistics - Conduct evaluations of trainings

Under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer at the Resident Coordinator’s Office, the candidate will provide support by providing detailed SDG trainings to the “SDG youth trainers”, who will engage persons visiting the SDG themed events, and will be capable of providing SDG training to others.

The Consultant will report contractually to the Resident Coordinator and be technically guided by the UN RCO Communications and Advocacy officer.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Creativity - Promotes and persuades others to consider new ideas; - Takes calculated risks on new and unusual ideas; thinks “outside the box”; - Takes an interest in new ideas and new ways of doing things; - Is not bound by current thinking or traditional approaches; Academic Qualifications: - Academic degree in social sectors, international development, or related field or an Academic degree in Communications, or related field - Prior knowledge of SDGs, Agenda 2030, and of Suriname’s development landscape and business landscape, is an asset Experience: - 3 years of previous experience in SDG trainings and ability to tailor trainings to the target audience and their potential SDG impact; - 5 years of Experience working in or with the community organizations as well as private sector Language: - Fluency in English and Dutch; - Speaks and writes clearly and effectively; listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately; asks questions to clarify and exhibits interest in having two-way communication; tailors’ language, tone, style and format to match audience; demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed; - Demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed
