ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. WFP Technology Division (TEC, formerly known as IT) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the agility required in humanitarian operations, be they manmade or in a natural disaster setting.

The Information Technology Digital Solution Delivery Branch (TECD) oversees all solution development activities for WFP, covering the full technology stack and delivering changes to existing solutions. This function manages all aspects of development, from understanding business requirements to designing and building solutions and overseeing quality assurance.

The TECD WINGS Services team is seeking to fill a consultancy position of Quality Assurance Analyst for the SAP Finance and Budget areas to successfully manage these SAP portfolios. Under the direct supervision of the Head of WINGS Services - TECD, the QA Analyst will work on WINGS SAP related Projects, making sure the functional specification, the technical design, the development and the test of the SAP functionality are sound and robust and respond to requirements expressed by the business unit as improvements not available through standard SAP functionality.

The incumbent will be responsible to liaise with Business units to discuss, collect and document requirements and describe new or changed IT digital solutions that meet their needs. He/She will be involved during the initiation, design and development phases of the SAP solution and may also be required during the implementation phase of the project to support the Application Maintenance team. Furthermore he/she will be asked to temporarily be responsible for the Management and Coordination of the testing activities of some important ongoing SAP projects.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Apply strong knowledge of business processes for supporting, maintaining and optimizing the SAP FI, PS, GM and BCS modules and provide analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting and development support to end-users, business process owners and other functional areas;
• Manage integration within the corporate IT systems for the business area and coordinate with business experts to deliver efficiency gains at a system level and across business areas;
• Ensure availability and share timely information with both internal and external stakeholders;
• Provide Quality assurance for SAP-based solutions delivered into the Production environment, paying close attention to interdependencies with existing solutions and critical functionality that cannot be impacted;
• Ensure that new requirements are correctly captured and documented by the WINGS Application Maintenance Team, and that change requests are prioritized according to Business needs.
• Develop effective relationships with Process Experts and Business Process Owners, seeking to establish and promote partnerships to ensure comprehensive delivery of IT solutions within the business area, in close collaboration with the WINGS Application Maintenance Team;
• Analyze business, functional and non-functional requirements:

1. Identify and anticipate requirements, providing IT solutions to the business area which achieve the highest quality in terms of technical usability, user acceptability, and domain suitability, improving business effectiveness and efficiency.
2. Impact analysis on business context and IT systems, identifying alternative solutions;
3. Discuss requirements, impact analysis and alternative solutions with business units;
4. Be responsible for maximizing the value brought by the IT solution by understanding business and end-user requirements and prioritizing the work to be done.

• Quality control on documented functional and non-functional specifications:

1. Translate requirements in functional and non-functional specifications;
2. Define and detail the information model, the user interface model, the use cases, the integration model and the reporting model;
3. Interact with the development team to discuss and clarify specifications.

• Manage improvements and provide ongoing support for WFP’s IT systems within the business area, overseeing the evaluation, execution, testing, verification, acceptance and deployment of the requested solution.
• Advise on change management for global deployment (Pilot and Rollout);
• Support in costs and time frames estimation;
• Support in project risks identification.

DELIVERABLES:

• Business requirements documented.
• Functional specifications released.
• Testing results reports and documentation produced.
• A high level of satisfaction of the Stakeholders, IT Solution Architects, and Development Teams in relation to soft skills such as effective communication, conflict management, strategic contributions to product’s success, leadership skills, etc.
• Contribution to improvement of shared processes and tools.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Advanced University Degree in some of the following disciplines: Economics, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or another related technical field.

Experience:

• Minimum 6 years post graduate, progressively responsible professional experience as a Quality Assurance and Business Analyst within an organization and proven record of accomplishment in development and implementation of IT applications, with particular focus on SAP-based solutions.
• Experience in process orientation, process adherence, and process documentation creation.
• Technical Skills & Knowledge:
• Advanced knowledge of SAP FI, CO and Public sector modules.
• Good general IT skills with strong skill level in software solution development.
• Specialized expertise in SAP technical Design and SAP developments.
• Business analysis: creation and review of business, functional and non-functional requirements for IT solutions.
• IT solution development: Requirements, Design, Development, Implementation
• Research and Analysis: Best practice, Gartner, etc.
• Knowledge of Product and Project Management methodologies and tools.

Competencies:

• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Well organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to influence cross-functionally to manage projects within a matrix environment.
• Ability to manage budget, resources and risks.

• Ability to manage relationship with multiple stakeholders also at senior levels.

  Language:

Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
