Org. Setting and Reporting The incumbent reports to the Field Sanitary Engineer

Responsibilities In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures:

Assists the Field Sanitary Engineer in:-

•All matters pertaining to the environmental sanitation programme. •Providing technical supervision and guidance to all sanitation staff working the Area Offices and Camps. •Planning and directing in-service training for sanitation staff as and when required. •Planning, implementing and administering the Agency’s environmental sanitation programme in the Agency’s Camps. •Establishing contracts with government officials responsible for the environmental sanitation services and municipalities in his Field. •Organizing and supervision of vector control programme. •Participates in the school health and health education programme aimed at improving the environment. •Acts for the Field Sanitary Engineer during the later’s absence. •Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Competencies •Ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload and multiple tasks effectively. •Knowledge and ability to operate basic computer software & office equipment used by Agency. •Ability to maintain cordial relationships with all concerned. •Ability to cope with multiple tasks effectively. •Good communication skills.

Education •Successful completion of full secondary education. •Diploma, or a certificate of at least a two-year course in Environmental Sanitation from a recognized college/institute.

Work Experience Four years of professional work experience, preferably in the management of sanitation programmes for refugee camps.

Languages •Fluency in English and Arabic.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice Contract Status: Fixed-Term Appointment for 3 years ; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.Benefits: --Grade 10, Monthly Salary from JD 668.30 Fils. Other benefits include Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency) & medical insurance. Dependency allowance is subject to eligibility

Duty Station : Jordan Field Office

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - A driving license valid in Jordan.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Required to travel frequently within the Field of duty station and may be required to use an UNRWA vehicle in the course of performing his duties.

Other Information •Only candidates residing in Jordan with authorization to work in that duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply.
