The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s ICT Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programs globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

This position is situated within the Solutions Centre and Support section of ICTD. The center provides adequate, user-friendly, and modern business solutions to UNICEF’s different departments and stakeholders as well as providing guidance, governance, and procedures to several enterprise processes such as data collection, program monitoring, digital tools and platforms, and business process optimization throughout the organization.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Salesforce Solution Manager, Salesforce Technical Specialist manages the overall administration of global salesforce platform, design and develop applications that supports continuously evolving business requirement and coordinate the release management of Salesforce implementation across UNICEF HQs, Regional offices and Country offices. The primary purpose of this role is to bring their technical expertise in the Salesforce platform and the individual is expected to display thought leadership around the continues enhancement and ongoing improvement of UNICEF Supporter engagement platform.

The Salesforce Technical Specialist will work with delivery partners, developers and other internal stakeholders to manage all aspects of the end-to-end release process and responsible for promoting changes to different environments; ensuring release acceptance and business sign-off of UAT.

Key Tasks and Deliverables:

• Participate in business process review session, translate business requirement into functional specifications;

• Apply full stack approach to solution design through planning, testing, implementing, deploying and operations of solutions;

• Build high quality applications championing the modular design, reusable components, separation of concern, high cohesion and loose coupling architecture;

• Lead technical design session, create technical documentation and lead the sizing of the work;

• Work with wider UNICEF technical team on integration requirement and design and develop applications that connects to multiple applications;

• Work with the team to develop and implement recommendations for process improvements and resolutions to difficult operational and technical issues;

• Manage the integrity of all environments including DEV, SIT, UAT, Training, Production and other special project Sandboxes as required;

• Ensure release management follow relevant UNICEF processes, methodology and control gates together with adherence to Salesforce release practices including managing CI/CD and packaging;

• Keep abreast of new salesforce.com features and functionality and provide recommendations for best and highest use of the platform. Take ownership of Impact Assessment Review with every Salesforce and NPSP release and ensuring impact are communicated.

• Work with development team to properly resolve merge conflicts, deployment errors and meet code coverage criteria. Implement a source control system and provide a release roadmap;

• Evaluate app exchanges packages and provide recommendation;

• Design and Develop PoC and provide recommendation;

• Manage and own the resolution of Level 3 advanced support issues;

• Support Salesforce Solution Manager in developing platform road map and technical architecture and other activities as required.

Duration: This consultancy will be for a period of eleven and a half (11.5) months.

Start date: Tentatively May 27, 2021.

Location: Remote work with core working hours established by Salesforce Technical Product Owner, based on project activities and locations.

Academic Degrees required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field

Professional Experience:

• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in an international development context as elaborated below

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Has the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Other Skills and Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of the Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Experience cloud).
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP and payments
  • 5+ Experience in building applications using Lightning components, APEX, Visualforce and UI related coding technologies, Salesforce.com Web Services APIs - Force.com SOAP and REST-based Web Service APIs, the Bulk API, and the Metadata API;
  • Ability to coordinate with implementation partners, developers, and business partners in providing solution suggestions.
  • Experience of project and software delivery lifecycles including scoping, design, development, testing, training
  • Experiences of NPSP managed package and developing managed packing following NPSP process. Strong understanding of CI/CD and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Strong Knowledge on integration platform (SAP PO, MuleSoft, Salesforce connect, Azure), Single Sign-On, Security, Certificate Management, OpenID Connect and ability to troubleshoot in a production environment;
  • Industry qualifications in Salesforce platform (Salesforce Certified Developer I/II, Salesforce Certified Application Architect, Marketing Cloud Email Specialist)

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Additional UN languages will be considered an asset.

Visa requirement:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant's household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G-4.
