The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s ICT Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

This position is situated within the Solutions Centre and Support section of ICTD. The centre provides adequate, user-friendly, and modern business solutions to UNICEF’s different departments and stakeholders as well as providing guidance, governance, and procedures to several enterprise processes such as data collection, program monitoring, digital tools and platforms, and business process optimization throughout the organization.

ICTD is a leading the technology delivery in the Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES), which aims to increase the global acquisition and engagement of UNICEF’s diverse supporter base, including donors, advocates and volunteers. A key part of the strategy is to replace incumbent CRM and Online Giving systems currently in place within 21 country offices with Salesforce platform.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Salesforce Solution Manager, Salesforce Developer/Full Stack Engineer design and develops custom solutions in Salesforce platform to support newly rolled out supporter engagement platform and other salesforce initiatives within UNICEF. You will provide your expertise in advanced apex programming, lightning frameworks/components and implement best practices by following design pattern and integration architecture. The incumbent will collaborate with domain architects, internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical solutions adhere to approved reference architecture and will be engaged in code and technical design review of solution implementation. As a member of global DevOps team, the incumbent will be providing advance support in debugging complex platform issues and will be involved global application delivery and enhancement. The incumbent will be responsible to understand various payment methods across different countries and will be implementing integration solution to connect with various payment aggregators, payment gateways and banks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understand requirements from business, translate into design and build applications following salesforce best practices
  • Apply full stack approach to solution design through planning, testing, implementing, deploying and operations of solutions
  • Build high quality applications championing the modular design, reusable components, separation of concern, high cohesion and loose coupling architecture
  • Work with wider UNICEF technical team on integration requirement and develop applications that connects to multiple applications
  • Evaluation of various Payment aggregator applications and their supported payment gateways to support UNICEF Digital fund raising
  • Writing highly configurable Integration solutions to process monthly payment file from various Payment Gateways and Banks
  • Developing Apex Batch classes and scheduling them to generate monthly payment presentation files based on localization needs for various banks.
  • Build configurable transformation module in Salesforce which can help in creating of various records from a staging object.
  • Working with Drupal team to review the Integration with various Payment Aggregators and payment gateways and design integration approach with Salesforce.
  • Understanding of Middleware processes and writing micro services to transform data and push to Salesforce.
  • Building proof of Concepts to articulate how a business problem can be addressed
  • Should be able to create integrations, data migration and implementation strategies that uses standard out of the box capabilities of the Salesforce/NPSP if feasible
  • Identify best practices, gap areas, and/or any areas of opportunity for improvement in our existing process
  • Able to architect complex integrations between Salesforce and legacy systems
  • Provide Tier 3/4 global support in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complex platform and integration issues
  • Contribute in setting up architectural and technical standard by keeping abreast of technological trends and Salesforce new releases
  • Create documentation technical architecture as a part of knowledge center needs
  • Provide training to production support staff and business users
  • Report issues with the platform and follow up on solving cases raised with Salesforce premier support and developer support team
  • Be part of a global dev ops team and participate in agile delivery
  • Supporting Salesforce technical product owner on overall delivery of SES technology requirements and perform other tasks as required.

Duration: This consultancy will be for a period of eleven and a half (11.5) months.

Start date: Tentatively 1st December 2020.

Location: Remote. The working hours needs to be Central European Time to work with wider project team based in New York, Geneva. Occasional overseas travel may be required.

Academic Degrees required:

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in Information Technology or related field is required. A combination of a first university degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the advanced university degree.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in an international development context as elaborated below

Other Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Has the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Experience of working with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical professionals
  • Deep understanding of the Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Community cloud, Einstein Analytics).
  • 5+ Experience in building applications using Lightning components, APEX, Visualforce and UI related coding technologies, Salesforce.com Web Services APIs - Force.com SOAP and REST-based Web Service APIs, the Bulk API, and the Metadata API.
  • 3+ years development including solid experience in HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, ExtJS and CSS, SQL, JSON, AmpScript
  • Experience of deployments and migrations tools (Salesforce DX, GitHub, CI/CD, Force.com IDE, Eclipse, ANT, Gearset/AutoRabit/Copado)
  • Experience of working on payments apps/aggregator and fundraising experience for non-profit
  • Experience integrating Salesforce.com with other applications via real-time, batch, sync/async
  • Strong Knowledge on integration platform (SAP PO, Azure Integration Service, MuleSoft, Salesforce connect), Single Sign-On, Security, Certificate Management, OpenID Connect, scripted data loader and ability to troubleshoot in a production environment
  • Industry qualifications in Salesforce platform (Salesforce.com Platform Developer I/II) are highly regarded.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Additional UN languages will be considered an asset.

Evaluation Method:

Each applicant will be evaluated based on the cumulative analysis methodology (weighted scoring method), where the award of the contract will be made to the individual consultant or vendor whose offer has been evaluated and determined as:

  • Responsive/compliant/acceptable; and
  • Having received the highest score out of a pre-determined set of technical skills and financial proposal specific to the solicitation.

Technical Criteria weight: [70%]

Financial Criteria weight: [30%].

Visa requirement:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant's household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G-4.
