You have:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years’ security-relevant experience.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in security/safety-related subjects, threat/risk assessment, security management, and personal and organizational security awareness.
- Technical competency and training experience in field-based communications systems (such as HF Codan, Motorola/ICOM VHF, Thuraya/Mobiq satellite systems).
- Proven experience working effectively in complex security environments.
- Fluency in Dari, Pashtu, and English (written, spoken, comprehension).
- Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage.
- Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background.
Job Description
General Duties
- Implement and maintain IRC standard security and communications systems and procedures. - Provide technical support and advice to management and staff - Monitor and report on security developments and trends - Participate in security-related decision-making - Supervise security and communications personnel - Conduct training and development activities in accordance with needs and concerns - Actively coordinate and contribute to information exchange both internally and externally - Ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities, lateral relationships and accountabilities. - Constant monitoring of all assigned IRC channels and if needed with UN and other NGOs at that particular site. - Monitoring of convoys and route from one location to another.
Security & Communications Systems
- Implement, maintain, and monitor security systems, policies, and procedures. - Facilitate proper use and maintenance of common communications, including HF and VHF radio networks and other communication technologies. - Ensure all assigned communications equipment and systems are fully functioning. - Report of all irregularities or incidents in any way related to the security of IRC staff or property - Report on situational developments, risks, and concerns. - Compile and provide weekly security situation reports to IRC security coordinator. - Hold regular security briefings for staff and visitors. - Ensure up-to-date, accurate security/communications information is available in all field offices and shared on timely basis. - Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by supervisor - Follow any new procedures and guidelines. - Supervise and manage guards and communications staff according to IRC policy. - Regularly monitor schedules and assess coverage and work load. - Ensure availability, maintenance, and functioning of necessary equipment. - Orient and train staff on preventive and reactive systems, policies, and procedures. - Orient and train staff on security context and specific situation. - Identify need for coordinate staff training with appropriate internal and external resources. - Establish and maintain relations with aid community, government and all security agencies. - Attend and actively participate in security related meetings, and share meeting minutes with security coordinator. - Follow and enforce all IRC codes of conduct and policies (worldwide and in-country). - Actively seek opportunities that will complement ability to fulfil position’s responsibilities as well as further professional development, such as taking part in internal and external trainings. - Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
