In 2003, following the start of foreign military operations in Iraq, DRC became one of the first organisations to provide humanitarian assistance in the country and now operates in 11 governorates, including Anbar, Baghdad, Babel, Diyala, Duhok, Erbil, Karbala, Kirkuk, Najaf, Ninewa and Salah-al-Din.

Overall purpose of the role:

Provide entry point management of community safe space, monitor the overall safety situation and implement safety regulations and safety plans as designated by the safety team and protection team leader. Geographic scope: Diyala- Jalawla (Iraq) This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base level. The role contributes to the development of action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Main responsibilities • Ensure security of DRC staff, property and DRC community safe space • Secure DRC facilities including all the DRC vehicles parked in the area of the community safe space • Patrol facilities regularly when it is not occupied, especially at night • Control access to DRC facilities • Assist in loading/unloading vehicles • Assist in keeping the facility and street outside clean. • Enforce DRC’s no weapons policy • Welcome visitor; ensuring the visitor’s book is signed and direct visitors to the office • Switch on/off generator and water pumps as required • Report any security incident to the safety team • Follow DRC security guidelines • Monitoring the cameras (CCTV) • Carry out other assignments as requested by the line manager

Required education. • High-school degree • Safety or security training
