Provide coordination support on safety and security under guidance of Operations Coordinator.

You have:

  • Experience in security management, safety coordination, or related fields.
  • Ability to compile routine security reports and update databases accurately.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with staff and partners.
  • Understanding of emergency response procedures and planning documentation.
  • Proficiency in using security management software and databases.

ROLE PURPOSE:

He/ She will provide coordination support on the safety and Security under the guidance of the Operations Coordinator.

Dimensions: Dimensions: Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, supporting children through both development and humanitarian relief programs. These initiatives are delivered directly and in collaboration with local partners. Our current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). In 2012, as part of a global reorganization, Save the Children unified the operations of Save the Children UK, Canada, and Finland into a single entity in Kenya. In February 2014, we completed a second transition by merging with the British INGO Merlin, integrating their health and nutrition programs into our portfolio. Today, Save the Children maintains an operational presence in Nandi, Kajiado, Dadaab Refugee Camp, Kakuma Refugee Camp, Garissa, Mandera, Turkana, and Wajir, and works through partners in many other regions across the country. We employ approximately 230 staff, including members of the Global team who are hosted and hired in Kenya, but support Save the Children International (SCI) global operations. In 2025, our annual operating budget was approximately USD 20 million.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Liaise with Admin Team for visitor’s tracker and ensure all visitors are booked for security briefing either prior to their travel or within 24 hours upon arrival.
  • Support the Operation Coordinator in compiling routine security reports and ensure relevant databases are accurately updated at all times.
  • Assist in compiling daily security information to facilitate monthly reporting and decision-making process.
  • Assist in planning and preparation of field visit support.
  • Update and maintain an up-to-date security/communication tree and conduct monthly tests of the security/communication tree.
  • Support staff in reporting incidents in Datix
  • Support Operation Coordinator during Staff training
  • Support in the emergency and contingency planning documentation. Support the Operations Coordinator to ensure that security management in emergency response procedures are appropriately documented and shared to all staff.
  • Provide back-up support to the Operations Coordinator in emergency response
  • Provide feedback to field staff in response to security-related inquiries; raise inquiries with Operations Coordinator where technical support is required
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment and practices for regulatory compliance
  • Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.
