Job Summary
The IMF is seeking freelance Russian and Kazakh interpreters based in Kazakhstan. A recruitment mission will be visiting Almaty, Kazakhstan, from April 25th through April 30th, to interview and test candidates.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The interpreters’ primary duty will be to provide interpretation services during Fund events, meetings and missions organized in Kazakhstan or in neighboring member countries. Interpretation services will be provided in the interpreters’ usual language combinations (English-Russian-English and/or English-Kazakh-English) using traditional permanent audiovisual facilities or portable equipment, in a face-to-face environment. In addition, interpreters may be requested to provide services in a remote fashion, including from home or from alternative hubs. Service modalities will include simultaneous, consecutive or whispering interpretation. Interpreters will comply with strict standards of quality and confidentiality. In particular, interpreters will thoroughly prepare assignments and will treat any background documentation provided ahead of the event with the utmost confidentiality.
Qualifications
The selected candidates will be professional Russian and/or Kazakh booth conference interpreters with demonstrated ability to provide top-quality simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in a variety of settings; a Russian and/or Kazakh native speaker with a very solid retour into English; will have the ability to translate economic, financial, legal, and statistical material from English into Russian and/or Kazakh; a high level of competence in information technology; the ability to work under pressure and a keen sense of teamwork.
Educational requirements:
An advanced university degree in interpretation and/or translation, or in an economics-related field, and at least 4 years of relevant experience, preferably with international organizations, are required.
