Background and Objective To enhance the visibility and impact of UNESCO’s programmes in Uzbekistan, the UNESCO Tashkent Office is establishing a roster of qualified translators proficient in English, Uzbek, and Russian. Consultants will provide high quality translation services for publications, documents, and communication materials, across UNESCO’s mandated areas, including education, culture, communication and information, social and human sciences, natural sciences, and related fields. 2\. Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the UNESCO Tashkent Office and relevant programme specialists, the consultant will: - Provide high-quality interpretation (consecutive and simultaneous) services for UNESCO activities to and from English, Uzbek, and Russian in online or in-person meetings, conferences or other events - Provide high-qualify translation in written documents, presentations, policy papers and training materials etc. - Ensure accurate terminology aligned with national usage and UNESCO standards; apply UNESCO Style Guide for translations into English. - Ensure use of gender neutral language in line with UNESCO’s gender strategy. - Maintain accuracy, clarity, and stylistic consistency across all translated materials. - Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and social nuances relevant to Uzbekistan. - Ensure consistent use of terminology, abbreviations, acronyms, formatting, and footnotes.
