This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

From approximately 11 to 31 May 2021, as part of a team of 20+ online volunteers, you will proofread one (or more) of UNICEF’s seven Global Annual Results Reports (Goal Area 1: Every Child Survives and Thrives, Goal Area 2: Every Child Learns, Goal Area 3: Every Child is Protected from Violence and Exploitation, Goal Area 4: Every Child Lives in a Safe and Clean Environment, Goal Area 5: Every Child Has an Equitable Chance in Life, Gender Equality and Humanitarian Action). In a 24-48 hour time window, this entails comparing the 70-190 page layout version returned from the design team against the original Microsoft Word version provided by writers for any omissions of text, data, errors in graphs, chronology in numbering, end notes, etc. and compile feedback in a shared document with other volunteers and UNICEF staff reviewing the same. Guidance for this will be provided. Upon completion, online volunteers will receive due credit for their contributions to this project.

  • Writing and editing
  • Public information and reporting

Each year UNICEF produces Global Annual Results Reports (GARRs) in advance of the Annual Session of the UNICEF Executive Board in June. The seven reports (Goal Area 1: Every Child Survives and Thrives, Goal Area 2: Every Child Learns, Goal Area 3: Every Child is Protected from Violence and Exploitation, Goal Area 4: Every Child Lives in a Safe and Clean Environment, Goal Area 5: Every Child Has an Equitable Chance in Life, Gender Equality and Humanitarian Action) are UNICEF’s stocktaking of results of work at the global, regional and country level, as set out in UNICEF’s Strategic Plan. The GARRs have been continuously appreciated by partners by demonstrating results achieved against the programme area targets and effective use of the funds contributed by the partners and donors, playing a crucial role in enhancing the transparency and accountability of the organization.

  • Volunteers: 25 needed

  • 11-20 hours per week / 3 weeks

Candidates should have demonstrated experience in report or editorial work (but not editing or copy-editing specifically), and have a strong attention to detail. Availability during 11-31 May is required. Please upload your CV when applying.
