OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

UNITAID is a multilateral partnership hosted by the World Health Organization. Unitaid is focused on making a unique and impactful contribution to the global response against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in developing countries. It catalyses improvements for the larger response through forward-looking and time-limited investments that are designed to increase access to better, more effective and more affordable health products (i.e preventives, medicines and diagnostics). There investments typically target market-based interventions such as price reductions, improvements in quality and supply, and the introduction of innovative products more suitable for the populations in need.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Results Officer will be responsible for the production of key outputs, which may include:

  • Managing, maintaining and enhancing the process for collating and robustly analyzing data and information from a range of sources to assess Unitaid's performance against its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Managing the production of summary portfolio-level performance assessments, under strict time constraints, and developing other ad-hoc analysis (as required).
  • Supporting the development of new investment areas with impact analysis, the review of proposals, and grant agreement development activities from the lens of impact and value for money.
  • Proactively developing the evidence base to measure Unitaid's impact, e.g. through internal analysis, building and maintaining data/information sharing agreements with key external partners, and through the production of Impact Narrative communicate Unitaid's impact to external audiences.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: A first level university degree in a numerate discipline, management, or public health related area. Desirable: An advanced level degree in social sciences or a numerate discipline.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least five years of experience with impact evaluation of projects.
  • Two years' experience in the development of reports or analytical documents for a range of high-level audiences.
  • Experience in preparing briefing notes for Board-level or senior level executives.
  • Experience in making complex data and analysis accessible and adapted to the needs of a broad range or audiences.

    Desirable: Experience in global health or health policy.

Skills

  • Excellent impact evaluation and numerical skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively (in particular in writing) to a range of audiences.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team deliver high impact results.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Knowledge of public health.
  • Specific knowledge in the area of communicable diseases including HIV, TB and malaria in a low income country setting is an asset.
  • Understanding of health products (e.g. medicines, diagnostics) and markets for HIV, TB and Malaria is desirable (e.g. pharmaceutical industry knowledge).

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 62,692 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3709 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
