The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an organization of 190 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.

The IMF is looking for a full-time contractual results-based management (RBM) Projects officer, hosted by the Regional Technical Assistance Center South [AFS] and Africa Training Institute (ATI)and based in Ebene, Mauritius. The RBM Projects officer will be recruited in the context of an umbrella agreement signed between the IMF and the European Union (EU), to (i) work on coordination and reporting requirements; (ii) improve visibility, debriefing, and outreach for our development partners; and (iii) coordinate and encode log frames and progress reports into OPSYS for IMF-EU signed agreements. (OPSYS is an EU reporting web portal that allows all implementing partners to store the log frames of their agreements and update progress.). The RBM Projects officer will work with the six African Regional Capacity Development Centers, consisting of the five African Regional Technical Assistance Centers and the Africa Training Institute and report primarily to the department of Institute for Capacity Development - Global Partnerships.

The RBM Projects officer primary responsibilities will be to support the implementation of the IMF-EU umbrella agreement, liaise with ICDGP and Regional Capacity Development Centers (RCDCs) in various tasks related to RBM, and improve coordination with our development partners.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Liaise with the RCDCs to make sure that log frames and encoding of results are aligned with reporting requirements and contribute to the preparation of (i) the joint consultative committee and (ii) the annual consolidated progress report issued in the context of this agreement.
  • Liaise with ICD Global Partnerships Division in DC and Brussels to coordinate translation and encoding of log frames and progress reports into OPSYS for agreements signed between the IMF and the EU;
  • Improve visibility and coordination with the EU and our development partners in general: ensure early announcement of RCDCs’ capacity development activities to our development partners, improve the partnership with the EU (exchange of analytical work, research papers on topics of common interest, invitation to speak / participate in workshops and training courses);
  • Specific work for AFS and the ATI: Contribute to the preparation of outreach materials, including AFS and ATI reports and newsletters, with focus on RBM related information and act as a local liaison to strengthen the partnership on topics of common interest like Climate and gender issues.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have the following:

  • A university degree and minimum 2 years of experience in program management.
  • A degree in economics and/or finance would be an advantage.
  • Ability to use IT portals and experience in using Office software.
  • A sound understanding of IMF structures and procedures is an asset.
  • Familiarity with EU external assistance and financial regulations is a distinct advantage.
  • A strong drive for results for timely completion of tasks, the ability to multi-task and to work under time pressure, strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Diplomatic skills and an ability to build/maintain strong collaborative relationships with other RCDCs and development partners.
  • Proficiency in English: language skills in French and Portuguese would be an asset.

The selected candidate is expected to start the position in the third quarter of 2023.

This position is a local hire at the NO-A level as per the UN salary scale for Mauritius.

It is a contractual position for an initial contract period of one (1) year, renewable for up to three (3) years based on funding and performance.

Prospective candidate must be authorized to work in Mauritius.
