FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations leading international efforts to defeat hunger. FAO’s goal is to achieve food security for all and ensure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.

This UNV assignment is located in the Resource Partnership Management Unit (PSRP) within PSR. The Unit is divided into four teams dealing respectively with European Union (EU), European Bilateral Partners, Pacific Rim and Non State Partners, and Emerging Partners and International Financial Institutions (IFIs).

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Unit, the UN Volunteer Resource Mobilization Officer will: • Support the Head of Unit in mapping out and improving PSRP business processes as needed, and ensure horizontal coordination on corporate issues; • Coordinate and provide quality assurance of briefs, inputs to briefs and other key documentation in support of the daily activities of the Head of Unit; • Enhance the knowledge management system of the unit, including by further developing the PSRP Induction Package and other SOPs; • Coordinate special projects and assignments on behalf of the Head of Unit; • Support PSRP Team Leaders with resource partner liaison tasks upon request; • Organize and facilitate informal and formal meetings with resource partners; • Prepare briefing documents and talking points for senior level management meetings with resource partners; • Support the Organization efforts to ensure partner visibility; • Ensure support to headquarters teams and Decentralized Offices to resource mobilization efforts and initiatives in line with defined corporate priorities; • Identify and share with relevant offices of FAO, thematic and geographic priorities and new funding opportunities with resource partners; • Act as liaison point for cooperation with other FAO divisions, as needed; • Coordinate work with other Officers in the Unit as well as in the Division and beyond to ensure adequate flow of information and to align activities.

the national and/or international level, experience working in the UN or other international development organization is required; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications; • Familiarity with database management and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Have affinity with or interest in FAO’s work, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

The UN Volunteer will be based in Rome, Italy where the FAO headquarters is located. Currently, there are no direct threats to UN personnel or assets within the country. It is the incumbent’s responsibility to comply with immigration, customs and health requirements while entering/exiting the country. The incumbent is responsible for finding and securing their own accommodation. Rome is a cosmopolitan metropolis with modern amenities, cultural attractions, public transportation, restaurants and nightlife.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service. Monthly Living Allowance (Per month): USD 2197.77 Entry lump sum (onetime payment): USD 4000 Relocation costs: Lump sum provided based on route for travel to the duty station and repatriation Exit allowance : $225 for each month served, paid on completion of contract
