Under the guidance of the Chief of Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships and the Deputy Representative (Matrix Manager) and in close collaboration with colleagues, including at regional and HQ level:

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  • Support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a resource mobilization strategy for the private sector. This will be complemented by an annual work plan for the private sector and HNWI, including research, compiling, and analyzing relevant data.

  • Developing and maintaining a pipeline of potential partners (both corporate and HNWI), initiating outreach to potential partners, account managing current partners and preparing pitch proposals to meet income targets.

  • Review and advise on compliance of corporate proposals within UNICEF frameworks for working with the corporate sector. Conduct due diligence on prospective corporate partners to ensure the business aligns with UNICEF core values and the partnership would not place the UNICEF brand at risk.

  • Work with relevant Programme Sections to support private sector partnership negotiations, contracting and finalization

  • Quality control of reports to private donors by working in close coordination with the relevant sections to ensure that reports meet specifications and needs.

  • Gather and support the analysis of national legislation on fundraising, tax and donation exemptions, privacy and use of personal data, as well as establishing recommendations and feasibility mechanisms.

  • Assist in the identification, recruitment and training of service providers and agencies for agreed private sector fund raising initiatives.

  • Support the development of the calendar of activities, meeting management, presentations to potential partners, specific proposals to each potential partner including amounts and collection mechanisms, agendas and minutes of each internal and external meeting, and follow-up of management contacts.

  • Support the development of integrated communication campaigns before, during and after the collection actions.

  • Support the analysis of values ​​and principles of each potential alliance, as well as the possible risks to the reputation of the UNICEF brand.

  • Promote cooperation with companies and organizations in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility and promote the Child Rights and Business Principles of the Global Compact.

  • Support programme teams to identify which businesses are relevant to accelerate delivery of programmatic results, and, when required, support programme staff to pursue opportunities which arise.

  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor from time to time.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education -

A University Degree in one of the following fields is required:

Marketing, Business, Fundraising/ Philanthropy, Communications, External Relations or related field

Experience -

A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in resource mobilization and fundraising activities, preferably in an international organization .

Experience in cooperate philanthropy and/or cause related marketing is an advantage.

Outstanding interpersonal and negotiating skills are essential.

Language requirements -

Fluency in English with excellent writing skills, a must.

Fluency in either or both Sinhala and Tamil, an asset.
