Overview

Support ESCWA in preparing project proposals for priority projects.

You have:

  • An Advanced university degree in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Law or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience working with international development or humanitarian agencies is required.
  • Experience working with donors in the Arab region is an asset.
  • Fluency and demonstrated writing skills in English is required.
  • Fluency in Arabic is an asset.

Result of Service The Consultant is expected to carry out the following tasks under the supervision of the acting Chief of the Strategy, Planning, Accountability, Results and Knowledge Section:

1. In consultation with Cluster Leads, prepare 5 complete project proposals for identified priority projects, including by: i. Coordinating with technical experts in Clusters in drafting project proposals; ii. Coordinating with ESCWA's administration in preparation of the project's budget to ensure it is aligned with institutional needs as well as the technical narrative; iii. Understanding, communicating and planning project proposal designs in line with ESCWA's rules and regulations as well as possible donor requirements; iv. Mapping all technical, personnel, administrative and financial requirements for project proposals; v. Setting milestones for the project proposal development process; vi. Identifying any potential gaps within ESCWA that would need to be addressed in order to implement the project; vii. Ensuring the proposal is aligned with ESCWA's vision and mission as well as its strategy; viii. Ensuring the proposal is prepared with a high degree of quality, accuracy and adherence to internal as well as possible donor requirements for formatting. 2. Support ESCWA staff in mobilizing resources from donors for the identified priority projects.

Duties and Responsibilities ESCWA is hiring a Consultant to support the existing Resource Mobilization team in ESCWA in preparing project proposals in key priority areas identified through consultations with Senior Management and Cluster Leads.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: 1. An Advanced university degree in one of the following majors: Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Law or related field is required. Experience: 1. A minimum of 8 years of experience working with international development or humanitarian agencies, preferably in donor relations, resource mobilization, communication or project development is required. 2. Experience working with donors in the Arab region is an asset. Networks among donor agencies in the Arab region is an asset. Language: Fluency and demonstrated writing skills in English is required. Fluency in Arabic is an asset.
