The Position:

The Resource Mobilization and Strategic Partnerships Specialist will be the corporate focal point to leverage on the donor relations, potential of private foundations and philanthropic institutions for UNFPA, to increase their financial investment in the work and mission of the Organization and to engage the community of public, state and private foundations/entities and philanthropy in innovative partnerships and advocacy. The position will be responsible for developing existing partnerships and establishing new strategic ones to ensure the UNFPA office is well positioned within the UN family, member states, international organizations, etc and has the required visibility and network of relations that ensures its continuity and excellence.

The position is located in the UNFPA Amman, within the Management, and reports to the Country Representative directly.

Job Purpose:

Resource Mobilization and Strategic Partnership Specialist will work as part of the management team and be in charge of the corporate effort to ambitiously expand partnerships with public, state and private strategic partners, positioning UNFPA as the leading UN Agency on sexual and reproductive health and rights and the global Agenda for Women and Girls.

The portfolio represents a key asset of business development and growth in the UNFPA Strategic Partnerships Framework and for the UNFPA Strategic Plan 2022–2025. We, indeed, believe that partnerships with all stakeholders that share UNFPA’s vision will be one of the accelerators in making a lasting and positive impact in the life of women and girls.

Under the supervision of the Country Representative, the Specialist will contribute to building and implement a growth plan for the engagement of strategic partners in this field, mainly, but not exclusively, for resource mobilization, and for innovation and advocacy alliances. The Specialist will liaise across UNFPA units and will manage partnerships both directly at the country, regional and global level.

You would be responsible for:

  • Partnerships development, expansion and management. The Specialist will have the primary responsibility to develop and execute a strategic approach to expand the portfolio of public and private foundations and philanthropy for the UNFPA Jordan Office. This will include:
  • Ensuring the identification of relevant partners in key markets, with a particular focus on prospects for resource mobilization
  • Engaging partners and ensuring sound co-creation processes, to identify mutual areas of interest and build high-impact strategic partnerships.
  • Identifying appropriate content for proposals, through internal co-creation with relevant units at country and regional levels.
  • Managing partnerships with existing and new private partners, ensuring excellence and timeliness in nurturing the relationships, as well as in the communications with partners and donors.
  • Visibility of strategic partnerships with partners and stakeholders. The Specialist will ensure internal and external visibility of strategic partnerships with all stakeholders, in closer collaboration with the reporting, M&E and Media and Communications units as well as all other programs.
  • Networking: The Specialist will identify strategic networks and will facilitate the positioning of UNFPA Jordan within these networks. This positioning will contribute to advance regional and to some extent global conversations to achieve zero unmet need for family planning, zero preventable maternal deaths, and zero gender based violence and harmful practices against women and girls.
  • Knowledge management and capacity building: The Specialist will support knowledge management and capacity building on partnerships with private partners at UNFPA global, regional and country levels.
  • Management and leadership: The specialist will be leading the POS team, reporting team and work closely with the M&E team providing direction and guidance.
  • The Specialist will carry out any other duties as may be required by the Chief of the Strategic Partnerships Branch and the DCS Management.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Advanced university degree in business, public relations, marketing and communications, non-profit management or closely related fields is required.

Knowledge and Experience:

• 5 years of demonstrated professional experience, in the field of strategic partnerships, donor

relations and fundraising required.

• Demonstrated success in directly identifying, cultivating and managing high value strategic

partnerships with the private sector, member states and donors. Specific experience with private

foundations and/or philanthropy is preferred.

• Proven track record in directly securing funds and establishment of partnerships.

• Understanding of the innovative financing environment for public and non-profit organizations.

• Excellent communications, interpersonal relationships and writing skills.

• Ability to work in a dynamic team committed to delivering with excellent quality standards.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic Language is desirable.
