Overview

Deliver detailed work plan, desk review, and reports on climate change.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in geography, environmental science, natural resource management, meteorology, social and economic development, or related areas.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate, energy, environment issues, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and child rights.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Excellent research skills required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in child rights or any of UNICEF’s main areas of work (health, WASH, nutrition, child protection, social policy, education, gender, health) is considered an asset.
  • Excellent English writing/communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant is expected to deliver on the following key deliverables:

  • Produce a detailed work plan
  • Undertake a comprehensive desk review
  • Compile additional information related to Climate Change issues.
  • Analyze the impact of Climate Change issues on children with a focus on children living in areas exposed to Climate Change threats.
  • Produce a Draft CLAC Report
  • Produce a Final CLAC Report

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in geography, environmental science, natural resource management, meteorology, social and economic development, or related areas. Alternatively, a degree in communications or journalism with demonstrated expertise on environment-related issues can also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate, energy, environment issues, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and child rights
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required

  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Excellent research skills required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in child rights or any of UNICEF’s main areas of work (health, WASH, nutrition, child protection, social policy, education, gender, health) is considered an asset.
  • Excellent English writing/communication skills. The Consultant should take into consideration, according to the specific areas of intervention, the necessity of communicating in the national language. Knowledge of Arabic is therefore considered and asset.
