Result of Service The contractor's service will support the closing and finalization of Phase 3 activities of the project of COVID19 DA Projects on Social Protection and SME Surge.

Expected duration Contract duration: 27 May 2022 – 31 July 2022 Effective working time: 2 months and 5 days Place of work: Home-based

Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the co-project managers in charge of the UN-DA COVID Project entitled "Global Initiative towards post-COVID-19 Resurgence of the Micro-, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector" Component 2: Cluster F- Access to Markets (hereinafter referred as "UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge") as well as the UN Social Protection Project - 2023Y: Strengthening Social Protection for Pandemic Responses: Identifying the Vulnerable, Aiding Recovery and Building Resilience “Strengthening consumer protection in the provision of health services (including e-health) in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.” (hereinafter referred as "UN-DA COVID on Social Protection") and the overall guidance of the Head of the UNCTAD's Competition and Consumer Policies Branch; the incumbent will support the Project team in the following specific activities:

1. Overall assistance to Project managers in the closing and finalization of activities undertaken under the UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge and the Social Protection. 2. Support the Project Managers in the implementation of Phase 3 of the UN-DA COVID on MSME Surge and Social Protection in coordination with the second contractor hired under the same UN DA COVID projects.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Law or Economics or related field is a requirement. Experience: Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in working with competition authorities and work experience in competition policy/law and SME development are required. Within those 3 years of work experience, the candidate should have worked with a permanent/diplomatic representation to the UN, for any period of time. Experience in writing reports and drafting complex legal-economic documents, along with organizing events is required. Experience of the functioning of the UN Secretariat is desirable. Language: Fluency in oral and written English and French is required. Other UN official language is an asset.
