Many of the most vulnerable countries to climate change are developing countries, particularly the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS)., that lack the financial resources to adapt effectively. UNDP has been supporting vulnerable countries in mainstreaming adaptation in the development planning, and in accelerating adaptation efforts. In order to enhance the capacity to implement national adaptation plans, countries need systematic approaches in financing adaptation action, considering various financing instruments and resources from private and public, national and international sources.
We are looking for 2 Online Volunteers who have experience in adaptation finance/policy with excellent research and writing skills. The task will include the following responsibilities:
- Analyze adaptation components of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) investment plans, National Adaptation Plan (NAP) financing strategies and other adaptation investment plans for adaptation in developing countries;
- Prepare a short report on the findings.
The average estimated workload is expected to include roughly reviewing around 50 documents over the course of the assignment duration. Selected online volunteers are expected to begin the assignment on 1 May 2023 and deliver the report within one month.
The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the global Adaptation planning (NAP) team at UNDP and learn about the ways in which adaptation finance can support climate action in vulnerable countries.
Candidates should have strong research and analytical skills. Background knowledge and working experience in climate change adaptation and climate finance is desirable. A degree in a related field is considered an asset.
