You have:
- Knowledge of and experience with financial sector databases, such as Bloomberg, Reuters, DataStream, Fitch Connect, Orbis, S&P’s Capital IQ, Moody’s, Thomson Global Banking Resource, OECD and BIS databases.
- Knowledge of and experience with Fund economic data management software.
- Excellent data management and analysis skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and other Windows software and relevant Fund applications/templates.
- A thorough understanding of econometric software, especially STATA, MATLAB and R.
- Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others, interacting effectively with colleagues within the Fund and with country authorities.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Completion of an advanced university degree in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, or a related field.
- Minimum of six years of relevant professional experience, or a minimum of two years of relevant experience at Grade A8, or equivalent, is required.
- For Grade A10, educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, supplemented by a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, or equivalent, is required.
- For Grade A11, educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, supplemented by a minimum of four years of relevant work experience, or equivalent, is required.

The International Monetary Fund is searching for a Research Officer/Senior Research Officer to work in its Monetary and Capital Markets (MCM) Department, Financial Sector Assessment and Policies (FS) Division. This is three year term appointment, in accordance with the Fund’s categories of employment
The FS division has four main roles: (1) managing and reviewing the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), including its financial stability risk assessment; (2) developing FSAP policies and instruments, including integrating the FSAP with other financial surveillance; (3) developing, applying, and evaluating analytical tools for financial stability assessment (including stress testing, macroeconomic models with financial sector, household and corporate vulnerability analysis with micro data, interconnectedness, spillover analysis, and other macro-financial analyses); and (4) disseminating the analytical tools to internal and external audiences through technical assistance, technical cooperation, and teaching.
Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in the division’s technical, analytical, and operational projects;
- Develop and use computer programs for data management, including micro data for banks and non-banks, and conduct econometric analysis;
- Provide in-house advice on data sources and software and programming to the division;
- Liaise with Research Officers in MCM and outside the department as well as ITD staff on information technology, problem-solving and database creation, and access to internal and external databases;
- Provide data and economic analysis used for the preparation of articles, research papers, speeches and Board documents; and
- Participate in other analytical projects, country work, and other tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications
For Grade A9, educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree,
or equivalent, in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, or a related field; or a university degree, or
equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience; or a minimum of two years of
relevant experience at Grade A8, or equivalent, is required.
For Grade A10, educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree
in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, supplemented by a minimum of two years of relevant work
experience, or equivalent, is required. In the alternative, a minimum of two years of experience as a Research Officer at
Grade A9, or equivalent, is required.
For Grade A11, educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree
in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, supplemented by a minimum of four years of relevant work
experience, or equivalent, is required. In the alternative, a minimum of two years of experience as a Research Officer at Grade A10, or equivalent, is required.
