The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Regional office for Arab States is looking for four online volunteers to research local and informal volunteering activities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in each of the Arab countries. Each volunteer will be responsible for examiningone group of the Arab countries (Gulf countries, levant countries, Maghrib countries, and the other African Arab countries). The task will include the following two aspects: 1) search through a wide range of sources to collect and compile data about local and informal volunteering activities that provide COVID-19 response, and translate relevant information into English, and 2) identify the impact and outcome of these local and informal volunteering activities based on the collected evidence. The delivered product will be a document (written in English) that clearly lists and explains the details about local and informal volunteering activities and their impact on COVID-19 response.

    The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Regional office for Arab States is conducting policy research for stakeholders in the region on integrating volunteerism in health emergency response. Online volunteers will support the project by researching local and informal volunteering actions, which represent a major aspect of volunteerism in the Arab States.

  • Volunteers: 4 needed

  • 6-10 hours per week / 2 weeks

    Knowledge of English, Arabic and/or French is mandatory. Knowledge of the region is highly desirable. Experience or familiarity with grassroots activities and organisations in the region, such as mutual aid, NGOs, civil society actions, is a strong advantage. Experience in research and analysis is preferred.
