Duties and Responsibilities This Terms of Reference outline the work of a Consultant who will collaborate closely with the team in Policy Branch to support the Global Humanitarian Policy Forum, as well as other tasks, as required. The Consultant will contribute to research and drafting or reports, memos, notes, speeches and talking points, as well as the organization of policy events, including with regards to the Global Humanitarian Policy Forum:

Objectives and tasks:

In close consultation with the Policy team to determine exact requirements as the project progresses, the consultant will be:

-Conducting research and preparing reports, studies and background papers for the Global Humanitarian Policy Forum (GHFP) and related events; - Supporting the drafting of background documents and reports -Supporting the Follow-up to the Implementation of the 2023-2026 OCHA Strategic Plan -Organizing the GHPF and related events; -Reaching out to Member States, agencies and partners to facilitate exchanges of expertise and views on specific humanitarian issues; and - Preparing statements, key messages, correspondence, presentations, summaries and other required materials for the GHPF and related events.

Qualifications/special skills English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

A masters-level university degree in international law, international affairs, political science or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Minimum of 2 years' work experience in research and analysis is required. Prior experience in desk research issues related to humanitarian action and climate change is required. Prior experience working within the UN system or similar organization is desirable. Prior experience in organizing events and workshops is desirable.
