Result of Service - Provides substantive and general administrative support to the below-mentioned activities related to Information Society in general and Digital Cooperation in particular. - Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities The services of an individual contractor are needed to carry out research and analyses on Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development to support the development of technical materials on the subject. The individual contractor will provide support to the Phase 2 of the “Advancing Digital Cooperation and Development - Arab States Action Programme” project (ADCD-ASAP phase 2)’s digital cooperation track activities.

The IC will work under the direct supervision of the ADCD-ASAP Project Coordinator and the designated project staff.

In particular, the IC will be tasked to do the following:

  • Prepare statistical tables and graphs and assists in the preparation of presentations and background material in support of Digital Development, Digital Cooperation deliverables and DCDF.

  • Systematically follow through and retrieve, highlight, and compile information on Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development related topics in the Arab region from a wide variety of information sources: prepare inputs on the subject as required.

  • Research, compiles, and summarizes background materials for use in preparation of reports, briefs, speeches, etc. In the upcoming JTC meeting and the DCDF.

  • Assists in the evaluation and examination of data sets for accuracy, clarity, and validity especially when it comes to the DD_MMM, ADD_FPM2.0and COF.

  • Contribute in designing substantive documentation and convening of a series of JTC/CRTCM meeting in support of ADA;

  • composing draft information note and LOI for the meetings related to the ADA 2.0, NDDRs, ADDR

  • Assists in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software in the upcoming JTC meetings and the ADA lunch.

  • Ensures smooth and efficient information flow within the unit; prepares and processes confidential information specially in the upcoming DCDF.

  • Assists in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software and deploying modern online tools and applications to encourage stakeholder collaboration.

  • Responds or drafts responses to a wide range of correspondence and other communications; uses standard word processing package to produce a wide variety of large, complex documents and reports.

  • Review the English and Arabic of the ADA 1.0 and the MMM

  • Assist in planning and organizing official events, meetings, etc., handling all necessary arrangements (e.g., room reservations, guest/participant lists, invitations, catering, seating arrangements, background documentation, special equipment, etc.)

  • Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned.

    Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in a field related to Information Society, Digital Cooperation & Digital Development, economics, development studies or sustainable development is required. Master's degree is an advantage.

Languages Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA.

For this position, Fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
