This is a UNV National University contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National University contracts.

This UNV assignment is part of the strategies of the UN system's Interagency Youth Advisory Group (GA JUV), which currently has UNFPA as its lead agency. The UN University Volunteer will act under the supervision of the UNFPA Adolescence and Youth area, focusing on activity 1.1 of the GA workplan: Youth and climate action mapping of youth organizations and leaders in the theme, and situational report on climate change for youth. UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. This project will assist in the implementation of the UNFPA country office communication and advocacy strategy.

Under the supervision of the Youth focal point at UNFPA Brazil, the UN Volunteer will implement the following activities ● Support coordination of the mapping of youth organizations and leaders on the subject and preparation of a situational report on climate change for youth ● Prepare methodological proposal for mapping, covering the 5 regions of the country. ● Support in the selection of online volunteers; ● Monitoring of online volunteers’ activities; ● Prepare a preliminary presentation of the mapping of at least 2 regions. ● Prepare a preliminary presentation of the mapping of other regions. ● Prepare Executive report and PowerPoint presentation (or other visual material)

Other requirements: Experience and work in defence of the rights of adolescents and young people are desirable. Experience and work with sexual health and reproductive rights, climate change and combating racism and gender-based violence are assets.

Brasilia is a family duty station and classified A (hardship). The living conditions in Brasilia are good as well as the access to health services. The accommodation facilities are in general good, and the choice is wide. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. Brazil is security level 3 (moderate). United Nations Department of Safety and Security UNDSS Brazil advises to exercise a high degree of caution in Brazil due to high levels of serious and violent crime, particularly in major cities. Violent crime as muggings, armed robbery, kidnappings, and sexual assault, is very high. Avoid shanty towns (favelas) in the big cities and if you are attacked or robbed, do not resist. Demonstrations can occur at any time and may turn violent with little or no warning. All United Nations personnel must scrupulously comply with UNDSS procedures and recommendations during their assignment in Brazil. For missions in rural areas or indigenous reservations, special procedures may apply; UN personnel should consult with the local DSS office in advance
