Description of task

Under the direct supervision of UNDP Armenia CO Programme Manager the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Keep updated a mapping of key partners in the field in the Project target sectors and the Russian and International partners, in particular;

  • Support in the creation of strategic partnerships for rehab service provision, brokering, peer exchange and networking;

  • Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing based on service provision, rehabilitation and habilitation, developmental and other types of services throughout the identified network of partners;
  • Conduct, jointly with the identified partner institutions, research and analysis on various aspects of service provision;
  • Support the team to build the research and analytical capacity to ensure scientific support to the new policy framework on disability assessment and service provision.
  • Support the team in organizing advocacy campaigns, events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products;

  • Support the team to identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned that are directly linked to the implementation of the Project and contribute to their dissemination;

  • Prepare relevant documentation such as project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in donor meetings and public information events;
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the documentation and filing system;

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Social sciences, social services, medical including rehabilitation. Participation in research and or assessment works related to rehabilitation and habilitation services is a strong asset.

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the social, human rights sectors, including a strong focus on working with issues related to persons with disabilities;
  • Familiarity with disability assessment processes based on best international practices, with particular focus on ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) is a strong asset;

  • Proven experience in research and analysis on disability assessment, or service provision; focus on rehabilitation, habilitation services, psychosocial support and/or assistive technologies is highly desirable;

  • Good knowledge of international human rights framework, the UNCRPD and other regional human rights frameworks;
  • Exposure to a wide range of innovative policy and practical solutions in social, health or other service provision sectors, including the assistive technologies and devices.
  • Computer skills: Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.). Knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems is an asset.

This assignment is funded by the Government of the Russian Federation, therefore only Russian nationals are eligible to apply.

This is a UN Volunteer assignment and eligible candidates must be 25 years of age or older.

Selection process

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The selection will be done by the UN Host Entity at the level of the country of assignment, via competency-based interviews held via skype or telephone.
