This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The UN Volunteer will be working under the overall guidance of and close supervision of the Project Manager on Business and Human Rights, the consultant will provide the overall support on the knowledge and advocacy communications and administrative assistance to the project, as assigned by the Project Manager.

The consultant will work in collaboration with the communications, operations, programme staff/team in the UNDP Thailand Country Office (CO) and UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub (BRH) to exchange information and ensure consistent services delivery.

Under the direct supervision of the project manager on business and human rights, the consultant will undertake the following tasks: Summary of Key Functions:

  1. Provide advice to the development of the Project ‘s research and communication activities, drafting and refining advocacy, campaign and other research and communications materials on specific activity outputs outlined in section 15. In furtherance of these activities, the following tasks may be required:  Draft press releases, develop key messages, and other advocacy materials;  Provide proofreading and editing support for research and communication content;  Provide support for formatting research and communication content and reports;  Create and design social media content (infographics, videos, posters, banners, flyers and other media works);  Maintain a database of reference materials and audiovisual content (photos and videos);  Provide photographic support;  Support the visibility of the Project through website and social media; and  Undertake field visits to document business and human rights project’s activities and success, and produce research and communication content; and,  Provide coordination support to research and communications and advocacy efforts and campaigns; e.g. by supporting the organizations of workshops, trainings, seminars, as necessary

  2. Assist the project team in promoting research products outlined in section 15 via communication materials  Assist in drafting, editing and preparing communication related products and translating background documents in furtherance of research products;  Promote the research through various channels to ensure the widest possible reader-ship

  3. Work proactively with external partners, UNDP Thailand CO and UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub (BRH) to promote and disseminate research and communication products of the project.

Results/Expected Outputs:

   As an active project team member, the incumbent will provide efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support on 
   research and communications, which include the following activities:  

 National events on Business and Human Rights  Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) Trainings at national and sub-national level  Workshop on Promoting the Implementation of the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights at Provincial Level  The study on the Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence  CSO consultations on the Access to Remedy  The launch events on Business and Human Rights publications

• Genuine commitment towards the principles of voluntary engagement, which includes solidarity, compassion, reciprocity and self-reliance; and commitment towards the UN core values.

meeting arrangement, data gathering, documentation in Thai and English of the new initiatives, power point presentation;  Experience in human rights, human rights due diligence, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and corporate social responsibilities (CSR);  Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint;  Knowledge of social media management (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube);  Knowledge of communication and graphic design tools (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite);  Knowledge of web-based management system (i.e. Google Suite);  Knowledge of virtual meeting tools (i.e. Zoom, Skype, WebEx, Microsoft Teams);  Strong Interpersonal skills and experience working with the private sector, government and civil society is an asset;  Ability to work under pressure and time constraint;  Excellent written and oral communication skills; and  Previous work in assisting project management is an asset;
