Under the close supervision and guidance of the Communication Officer, the UNICEF Social Media and Comms Intern will support the communication section in gathering and compiling a range of tangible communication contents every month including human interest stories, profiles, photographs for social media, media outreach and donor reports. The position will be partly home-based, and partly office and field based

OBJECTIVE AND TARGETS:

  1. To provide quality and timely communication content including human interest stories, photographs and infographics.
  2. To support creation and daily management of social media content and engagement with UNICEF Jordan social media followers.

How can you make a difference?

SCOPE OF THE WORK (WORK ASSIGNMENT)

  1. To provide quality and timely communication content including human interest stories and UNICEF/partner success stories, supported by photographs and infographics.
  • Facilitate preparation of communication content for social media, presentations and media and donor reporting.
  • Liaise with Programme colleagues and partners to ensure timely sharing of events, updates and highlights.
  • Categorize and archive online all communication content including photos, videos, human interest stories, studies/reports under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Support production of short videos that showcases issues of children and UNICEF work
  • Support the development of content for new and emerging platforms to reach new audiences for UNICEF.
  1. To support daily management of social media content and engagement with UNICEF Jordan social media visitors and followers.
  • Prepare communication content and schedules posts in Arabic and English in consultation with the Communication Officer.
  • Supports management and upload of content to UNICEF’s Jordan’s social media.
  • Gather and monitor data for monthly analytical reports on Jordan CO social media interactivity.
  • Support in designing /developing social media designs when required.
  • Support in managing the online community for Jordan CO Social media, replying to comments and screening messages to flag messages that need extra follow up.
  • Update the UNICEF Jordan website and monitor results.
  • Gather best practice, interesting research and share with the Communication team.

EXPECTED DELIVERABLES

  1. Daily social media posts for UNICEF and associated accounts.
  2. Weekly updates and monthly social media report.
  3. 2-4 monthly human-interest stories and/or blogs.
  4. High quality captions for UNICEF photos and weekly archiving.

REALISTIC DELIVERY DATES AND DETAILS ON HOW THE WORK MUST BE DELIVERED

  1. Monthly or as per timeline specified by supervisor.
  2. All work must be delivered in electronic format or as specified by supervisor

OFFICIAL TRAVEL INVOLVED

Official travel involved inside the country.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in journalism or broadcast media or related arts or social sciences.
  • Experience and skills: 6 months of proven work experience in social media; broadcast media and knowledge of graphic and layout software applications including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Microsoft Office; ideally some experience in photography and filming. Fluent English and Arabic.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for an internship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years. - Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Be proficient in at least one of UNICEF's working languages: English, French or Spanish. Fluency in the working language of the office you are applying to is required.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and
  • Have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.
