This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

As an active team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to WHO and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: •Technical support to Partners and Ministry of Health in the field of RMNCAH •Develop annual workplans for RMNCAH. •Field visits for monitoring and supervision. •Facilitation in Drafting of proposals for Maternal and Child health. •Formulating assessment tools for Reproductive, Maternal and child health when required. •Technical support on promotion of Gender equity, FGM and violence.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child & Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Lead or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer RMNCAH Officer will: 1. Monitor the performance of RMNCAH activities through site visits, review of technical reports and - regular interaction with partners 2.Liaise with implementing partners to jointly identify solutions to program implementation challenges. 3. Provide technical assistance and inputs to WHO Somalia RMNCAH team, Government of Somalia counterparts, implementing partners, and other institutions in the design, implementation, and evaluation of MCH and RH programs. 4. Provide technical assistance to Maternal & Child Health (MCH) and Reproductive Health (RH) health-focused technical working groups, task teams, workshops and campaigns. 5. Coordinate the analysis and synthesis of key technical lessons learned and best practice recommendations to integrate across all health activities. 6. Participate in / Ensure Resource mobilization and finalize drafting proposal writing. 7. Assist in developing annual planning documents including the Operational Plan, Country Operational Plan. 8. Prepare and submit final draft of MCH and RH-related sections of the WHO’s annual reports. The UNV will facilitate in drafting the quarterly reports for RMNCAH related activities. 9. Monitor the progress of obligations, commitments, expenditures and KPIs for programs and activities aimed at improving MCH and RH.

•At least 5-7 years of professional work experience at the national and international level in maternal, newborn and child health program or other relevant programmes;; •Previous experience of working with UN agencies or international development organizations. • Advanced training in maternal, newborn and child health. •Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; •Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; •Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; •Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; •Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; •Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; •Sound security awareness;

Mogadishu is the HQ of the UNSOM operation inside Somalia mission area and is a non-family duty station. The UN Volunteer will be subject to the overall direction and guidance of the UN Designated Official (DO) for security. This is usually the UNDP Resident Representative. The volunteer will be incorporated into all applicable security protocols and will be required to strictly adhere to the guidelines, security plans and other directives issued by the DO. While in Somalia, the volunteer will be housed in UN provided accommodation in Mogadishu this is at the UN Compound at the Aden Adde International Airport (AAIA).
