You have:
- Bachelor's degree in medicine, public health, social sciences or any other relevant field.
- Demonstrated advanced experience (>2 years) in RMNCAH, SRH and GBV.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture (i.e., studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
- Technical Skills: MS Office (MS Word, Excel & Power Point).
- Desirable: Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with fast learning ability.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with WHO business process is regarded as an asset and experience in GIS and its use in health.
Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
WHO has been providing technical support to Government of Sudan in all issues related reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health including sexual reproductive health and GBV, with the main goal of improving the health status of the Sudanese people. WHO works to reduce maternal, adolescent and child mortality, morbidity and disability, and to improve health, especially of vulnerable populations. To achieve this goal, WHO focuses on the following strategic approaches: • Scale up the SRMNCAH services and improve accessibility to the SRMNCAH lifesaving services including GBV related health services, during the current emergency focusing on vulnerable population. • Strengthen the system and support building resilient health system to provide quality services and accelerate achievements of SDGs related targets. • Addressing inequity in the delivery of RMNCAH services and social determinants of health related to RMNCAH across the country by targeting the most under-served areas and filling service gaps. • Support and strengthen RMNCAH national health information systems to produce data and evidence that will improve health policies. • Strengthen health systems toward greater integration in policy, service delivery supplies and information through improved linkages and referral mechanisms.
Under the supervision of SRMNCAH head of unit and the HSD team lead, officer at the WCO the specialized volunteer will support Maternal and Child Health Directorate in Federal and State Ministries of Health to perform the following assignments:
• Support implementation and follow-up of the joint RMNCAH plan with the FMOH, SMOH and other key partners under RMNCAH team support. • Assist in the implementation of the SRH, Maternal Health, GBV, FGM, Child and Adolescent, health planned activities. • Assist reporting of the RMNCAH indicators within the national HMIS. • Assist the implementation of the RMNCAH program to respond to the current emergency under the service delivery pillar in the HRP. • Production of health situation reports in collaboration with the various technical units.

The current conflict and war have placed significant and increasing difficulties on the movement of people, within the country. Such restrictions may affect the ability of UN Volunteers to begin their assignments at their assigned duty station or limit the ability to enter UN premises. Thus, UNV cannot guarantee assignments will proceed as normal.
The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event the duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classified by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) will be provided monthly.
Allowances The purpose of allowances for the National UN Volunteers Specialist is to enable the National UN Volunteers Specialist to sustain a modest and secure standard of living at the duty station. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for volunteer work. Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): All National UN Volunteer Specialists are entitled to a monthly volunteer living allowance of USD 1,983.9 The purpose of this allowance is to cover the basic living costs of the National Specialists UN Volunteer. The allowance is to ensure that the volunteer can sustain a basic, adequate, and safe lifestyle. The monthly allowance rate is a fixed rate for the duty station as established by UNV headquarters.
