Background:

South Sudan is a fragile context country and currently still on crisis. Thus, the RHCS Programme Specialist will provide leadership and technical support to the development and implementation of the national commodity security program to ensure the mainstreaming of RHCS into Policies and Programmes, including those related to Humanitarian Response.

The Position:

The RHCS Programme Specialist reports directly to the Head, Integrated Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights (ISRHR) Programme. You will respond to country requests, and within the broader context of SRH system, strengthen and manage financing for the promotion, design, monitoring and evaluation of all phases of equitable RH commodity and family planning availability throughout all sectors (public, private, non-profit, subsidized and commercial), as well as supply management system, guidelines and standards.

Your role as RHCS Programme Specialist is vital to enhancing the national capacity to mobilize social and political support for national Policies and Programmes in the field of Reproductive Health Commodity Security (RHCS).

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • Advanced university degree at Masters Level in any of the following – public health, medicine, social sciences, pharmacy, or other related fields. A course in logistics, essential drugs, health system strengthening and financing and MIS is a plus.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of supply management: forecasting, warehousing, distribution, transportation and logistics information systems.
  • General knowledge of the principles and operational aspects of integrated SRH information and services. Familiarity with UN development Programmes and working procedures, especially UNFPA policies and programming procedures, is an asset.
  • 5 years of increasing responsibilities in managing RH or health programmes with direct experience relating to supply management systems, of which at least three years national and/or international experience in advising on RH commodities, health systems and supply management.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably Arabic is desirable.
