Contract

This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

The UNICEF Multi-Country Office in the Pacific has embarked into the first year of its 2023-2027 country programme, with an expanded focus on partnerships, resource mobilization and donor relationships. Much of the work of UNICEF across the 14 Pacific countries it supports requires adequate attention to monitoring and reporting of progress and demonstrating results for children, which needs to be properly and effectively documented and communicated to partners.

The strengthening and diversification of donor portfolios, new engagement with partners and proactive fundraising requires a substantial amount of high-quality writing and reporting in support of the CP implementation. Aside from the regular mid-year and annual reports and donor reports, the production of donor proposals will be stepped up to ensure funding of the country programme.

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Specialist at the P3 level, the individual will:

· Provide technical assistance in editing of MCO Annual Report and other country programme documents.

· Ensure regular monitoring and follow up of donor reports that are due by maintaining a system for tracking donor reports and proposals.

· Assist programme sections in the preparation of donor proposals and in case of emergency situation reports and appeals.

· Review and finalize donor reports received from Programme sections, related to the humanitarian and development programmes, as well as the Consolidated Emergency Report (if necessary).

· Prepare the following emergency and non-emergency and ad-hoc products such as donor reports, infographics, presentations, briefing notes, and other documents related to UNICEF Pacific Multi Country Office grants.

· In close coordination with the Planning and Monitoring team, ensure that results-based in-formation from partners’ progress reports and other monitoring tools, are reflected and used in donor reports

· In close coordination with COs, Programme, Communications and Partnerships, support re-source mobilization efforts by producing quality donor reports and timely inputs for fundraising proposals

· Systematically screen and cross-check internal and external reports, information and communication material for accuracy and consistency.

· Any other related tasks as required by the Supervisor.

The UNICEF office is based in Suva city centre. Suva is the bustling capital city of the Fiji Islands with a population estimated at 175,000 including the suburbs. Located on the south-eastern coast of the main island of Viti Levu, Suva is the administrative and political centre of the country. It is one of the South Pacific's largest and most sophisticated cities and home to many regional and international development organizations, including (list UN agencies), agencies and high commissions (Forum Secretariat etc). Suva is a very multicultural city which is reflected by the different mosques, churches, temples and cultural centres. Residencies can be found within 5-10 minutes walking distance of the office and UNVs would not need private transport as public transport is plentiful, safe and good value. Extensive information on living in Suva can be found here: https://un-lesa-fiji.wixsite.com/settling-in-fiji/general-information

The Security Level in Suva is classified as Minimal (Level 1) as per the UN security management system in Fiji. UNDSS advises UN Staff to exercise normal safety and security precautions. Cyclone season is November to April. Driving, particularly at night, can be dangerous due to insufficient street lighting, stray animals, and poor-quality roads. Robbery, theft, assault, including gender-based violence does occur. Crime is generally opportunistic; however, incidents occur more frequently in urban areas and at night. Staff advised to be particularly careful in the downtown Suva area at night. Outbreaks of endemic mosquito-borne illnesses (including dengue fever) are common. Staff arriving are required to obtain their TRIP Security Clearance prior to travel and attend the regional security orientation brief (Wednesdays at 10hr00) located at UNDSS.
