As part of its resource mobilization strategy, UNICEF Mauritania is recruiting an IUNV- Reporting Specialist to support the production of quality, results-based donor reports and proposals. Thus includes, but is not limited to, gathering/building evidence with programmatic teams, supporting project monitoring activities, producing communication/advocacy products, managing information, proofreading, translation, cross-checking data, and layout/formatting). The IUNV will also be tasked with information management and archiving of project agreements, proposals, budgets, reports, data (studies, dashboards, donor visibility elements, etc.) and ensuring that it is organized and user-friendly.

Overall, the Mauritania country office is looking for a young professional who can contribute to the submission of high-quality results-based reports with contributions from the Health-Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, Communication-C4D, WASH, and Social Policy programmes.

The IUN Volunteer will be hosted by UNICEF under the supervision of the Partnership Specialist (P-3) and will work closely with all Programme teams.

The overall objective of this mission is to assist the office in producing high quality results-based donor reports and funding proposals in a timely manner. The IUNV will follow detailed workplans and review the content and format of donor documents as per the Donor Office’s SOPs. This includes, but is not limited to, gathering evidence and communication stories with programmatic teams via field missions, information management, proofreading, translation, cross-checking figures and reference, and layout/formatting. The IUNV will ensure that all documents are checked for clarity and comprehension, respecting UNICEF terminology (compliance with the available guidelines and UNICEF brand rules), UNICEF strategic priorities, grammatical and factual accuracy, and consistency with donor guidance, the proposal and/or previous reports. The format and type of documents might vary depending on donor/NYHQ/WCARO requirements. The IUNV will also be tasked with archiving all relevant documents in an organized and user-friendly manner.

The IUNV will be based in Nouakchott and work under the guidance of the Partnership Specialist (P-3), in close collaboration with UNICEF programmes. This work will involve the following: • Supporting Programme teams to produce high quality reports and other donor docu-ments by internal deadlines (narrative, logframes, workplans, budget, visibility ele-ments gathered on field missions, etc.) This an include inter-agency reports and pro-posals. • Production of documents for resource mobilization and other communication docu-ments using evidence gathered with Programme teams and/or on field missions. • Information management and archiving donor documents such as agreements, pro-posals, budgets, reports, evidence/studies/data/dashboards, donor visibility elements, etc. • Submitting all documents in compliance with the available donor guidelines and UNICEF brand rules (see UNICEF Style Book) • Checking documents for clarity and comprehension, respecting UNICEF terminology, grammatical and factual accuracy, and consistency • Proof-reading, cross-checking of figures and references of reports • Translation of documents from French to English and from English to French. A ro-bust command of English and French is required for this position (fluent). • Supporting Programme teams in creating appealing communication/advocacy prod-ucts, including graphic design, infographics, photography • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor

• writing and reviewing/proofreading in different contexts/sectors for different audiences and for advocacy and fundraising purposes • Relevant experience with international organizations, knowledge of abbreviations and terminology used by UNICEF is desirable Ability to work in a complex and fast-paced environment, produce quality work in a short period of time, within agreed deadlines and sometimes under pressure • Knowledge of Rights and Results-Based Management approach (capacity to develop and/or review a logical framework is an asset) – refer to UNICEF Agora training • Knowledge of photography, graphic design, and infographics to create appealing communication products • Knowledge of the context of Mauritania and/or of the Sahel is an asset • High command of English and French (native speaker’s level): Strong writing and analytical skills, including the ability to present thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner.

The UN Volunteer will be based at UNICEF’s Mauritania Country Office in Nouakchott with periodic travel to project areas. Nouakchott is classified the United Nations as Family duty station and living conditions are good.

Mauritania has majestic landscapes with breath-taking scenery. The Reporting Specialist (IUNV) can expect a peaceful lifestyle. Services and infrastructure have been upgraded in recent times. The health system in the country is primarily public, however, over the past decade the private medical sector has seen a steady improvement. The main medical problems facing the public health sector are malaria, tuberculosis, dysentery, and childbirth complications. There are three international schools in the capital city of Nouakchott: the French School, the American International School, and the TLC International School. Located between the Sahara and the Sahel, Mauritania has experienced recurrent shocks in recent decades, including drought and the impact of the crisis in Mali, resulting in population movements and intense urbanization. The population is estimated at about 3.8 million, mainly concentrated in the capital, Nouakchott (26 per cent), and in the southern part of the country. Urbanization has placed significant pressure on social services and weakened traditional social protection mechanisms, which has had an impact on children's rights. Although the country has experienced sustained economic growth in recent years, contributing to its transition to lower middle-income status, the increase in wealth has not been equitably distributed or adequately reflected in national budget allocations to the social sectors. Children and adolescents in Mauritania remain exposed to various forms of violence, exploitation, and abuse in an environment that lacks effective institutional child protection mechanisms.
