However, personal safety should be considered at all times. Within the project's requirements, there might be a change of location to other cities in the country, depending on the regulations set by the United Nations Volunteers agency's conditions of service.

Terms of Service

The initial contract is issued upon arrival for the period indicated above. The contract may be extended depending on the continuity of the mandate, the availability of funding, operational need and satisfactory performance. However, the renewal of the assignment is not planned.

A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) consisting of a Monthly Living Allowance and a Family Allowance for those with dependents (maximum three). The VLA is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications, and other basic needs. The VLA can be calculated by applying the Post-Adjustment Multiplier (PAM) to the base rate of US$1,602. The base rate of the VLA is a global rate, while the PAM is country-specific and fluctuates monthly according to the cost of living. This method ensures that international United Nations Volunteers have comparable purchasing power at all duty stations, regardless of the variation in the cost of living. The PAM is established by the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) and is published at the beginning of each month on the ICSC website (http://icsc.un.org).

At non-family duty stations, which fall into hardship categories D or E, as classified by ICSC, international volunteers from the United Nations receive a well-being differential, Well-Being Differential (o WBD) mensual.

In addition, UN Volunteers receive a set-up grant at the start of the assignment (if the volunteer did not reside at the duty station for at least six months prior to taking up the assignment) and in the case of a permanent reassignment to another duty station. UNV provides life, health and permanent disability insurance, as well as transfer allowances, annual leave and full integration into the UN security system (including residential security reimbursements).

United Nations Volunteers receive Daily Subsistence Allowance at the United Nations exchange rate for official travel. A resettlement grant is awarded for satisfactory service at the end of the assignment.

UNV will provide the successful candidate, together with the offer of assignment, with a copy of the Terms of Service, including the code of conduct.
